A community BBQ fundraiser is being held tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 17 at 11:30 am at the Charlotte Fire Credit Union in a community effort to support a firefighter battling stage 4 cancer.

BBQ, BBQ Chicken, Baked Beans, Coleslaw, and Rolls will be for sale. If you have time tomorrow, please stop by and help support this effort.

Hello neighbors,
We are re-igniting our neighborhood association meetings after a long pandemic pause.

Please save the date for the first general meeting (open to any MONA neighbors) in 2023 for Feb 1 at 6:30 pm to 8 pm at Goodwurst on Central Avenue.

Our goal is to raise awareness about MONA, gauge interest in board/committee involvement, and talk about what we want as a neighborhood for the new year and beyond!

Can't make it to the meeting but have thoughts to share or interest in getting involved? My ears and inbox are open.

Please share the word with your neighbors. In the mean time, we will be sharing on social and putting on our website.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns ...
or want to join a board/committee feel free to email me or give me a call/text.

FYI: We will likely be gathering as a board for those who remain and who are interested in January prior to the general meeting. Please let me know if you would like a calendar invite. I will send out invites by the first week in January.

Do you have a child in or planning to attend a CMS school?

Please plan to attend the East Charlotte Community Engagement Meeting and represent Merry Oaks neighborhood. There are so many children in the neighborhood now. It’s the perfect time to offer suggestions and ideas for the school in our backyard.

The district is redrawing lines for nearly all the schools in our area with many slated to be relocated or rezoned (Chantilly, Villa Heights, Hawthorne High, McClintock Middle, Piedmont).

Hi everyone!

I'm gathering supplies for The Galilee Ministries, at the edge of our neighborhood, for a Thursday pickup. They have an Amazon wish list that I'll share in the comments, but you may have some of the things lying around or want to purchase locally. It's a quick turn around, but I'm sure they will do another pickup if there's interest! Just let me know!

The work they are doing is amazing!

Merry Oaks Elementary is celebrating Teacher Appreciaition Week starting Monday. The office is hoping to collect candy to make small bags for their 100 teachers on Friday. They do not have a PTA to support these hardworking teachers. If you are able to pick up a bag for the office to divvy up, they would be very greatful!

Any supplies can be dropped on the porch at 2334 Farmington Lane until Thursday evening. Venmo accepted as well if you would rather support the cause financially.
