Yesterday, a potential client came to the booth and admired our candles. She complimented how good they smelled and asked if I use essential oils in my candles, and I said No. She looked at me and said. Finally!! An honest maker. She knew the science behind candle making and how essential oils and essential oil notes are NOT THE SAME! She, in turn, purchased two candles.

I know following the crowd to produce sales is popular, but I refuse to lie to make a dollar. I mean it when I say that integrity is everything!

How the Idea Leap Grant helped our business.

Last year, our business grew exponentially, and with growth comes taxes! Our tax bill came to a whopping $12,940.00, which we owed the IRS. Thanks to the grant and great budgeting skills, we were able to pay a large portion of our tax bill without feeling overwhelmed by that big bill.

As an entrepreneur, the hustle never stops. We often run ourselves ragged in pursuit of success, battling stress, and burnout. Q: What is an ANYTHING SPRAY?

A: A spray you can use to refresh anything except your breath (for external use ONLY). It’s pitiful that I have even to say that, but it is what it is.

We will not be attending the this Sunday, as I need time to grieve the loss of my aunt, who was very close to me. I’ll be traveling to attend her funeral today, May 4, 2024, and do the family tribute. It feels like a lot…Please keep my family in your prayers.

After our tremendous win with the Leap Idea Grant, I spent the entire day in bed yesterday. I was completely drained in every way imaginable. Additionally, during the presentation, I experienced a profound moment of both pride and embarrassment. While I was immensely proud of our achievement, I was mortified when I forgot my pitch upon seeing my grandmother’s photo, which was part of the presentation. All I could see was my aunt. I’ve always known they looked alike, but the weight of this resemblance hit me at the most unfortunate time—right on stage.

I just need a little time to collect myself from everything I’ve been juggling emotionally and mentally, and then I’ll be back to my regular schedule.

If nothing else, know…just know this…Mental Health is IMPORTANT!!

To all the entrepreneurs in the area who have legitimate businesses, I encourage you to apply for the Idea Leap Grant when applications open up.

It is an experience that I can’t forget for many reasons.

1. I did that
2. I got up on that stage and forgot everything... My mind went blank, but I did that.
3. I have penetrated the atmosphere with the desires of my heart, and I know what happens when I do that.
4. I’m empowered and ready for my next assignment, which will get me closer to my dreams. Don’t believe me, just watch…
5. My supporters are badasses, and they packed that place out!!

We all left winners last night and I’m proud. No, we didn’t win first or second place but I’m proud. Pitching isn’t easy, but I did it, and I’ll do it again!
