Youth Taiji/Qigong/Chan(meditation) 10 week series
Begins Saturday January 6th at Chattanooga Holistic Medicine Studio, 512 Tremont Street
9:00am-9:45am $100 per child
This 10 week series will cover the physical & philosophical dynamics of Taiji and related arts of qigong and chan(meditation). Practice of these arts can dramatically improve the immune system functioning & balance, strengthen inner peace of mind & Spirit, and relax & destress the body while bringing joy & confidence in movement.
The physical aspect provides an effective exercise in movement which will improve coordination and build confidence & positive self image as they learn forms which includes understanding meditation and qigong, the root of taiji. The philosophical aspect provides an education on the culture that created this unique & healing exercise through the language. During the course they will learn about brush calligraphy by learning the characters of the major moves of the form and philosophical characters which help describe the nature of the practice.

Do you think you can take over the universe and improve it?
I do not believe it can be done.
The universe is sacred. You cannot improve it. If you try to change it, you will ruin it. If you try to hold it, you will lose it.
So sometimes things are ahead and sometimes they are behind;
Sometimes breathing is hard, sometimes it comes easily;
Sometimes there is strength and sometimes weakness;
Sometimes one is up and sometimes down.
Therefore the sage avoids extremes, excesses, and complacency.

I’ll also take this opportunity to share one of the most famous of all haikus. Written in 1681 by Edo period poet Matsuo Bashō, the poem reads:
Furu ike ya
