WYDOT is not planning any long term closures of Teton Pass this winter, unless necessitated by weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
Teton Pass, Big Fill Slide update: Work on the first work package in the multi-part project is nearly complete, including clearing landslide debris, installing soil nails, traffic control and other dirt work. Crews are working into the next phase and are preparing the detour to carry traffic through the winter. WYDOT is not planning any long term closures of Teton Pass this winter, unless necessitated by weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
Every effort will be made to complete as much work as possible this fall while the weather remains favorable. Due to supply chain constraints and unpredictable weather in the high-elevations of Teton Pass, project work will likely occur through Spring 2025.
Buckle up, Wyoming!
Child Passenger Safety tip of the day:
Research shows that when parents and caregivers buckle up, kids do, too. Remember, children learn by example. They see whether we adults buckle up — every time, every trip. If using a seat belt is not a priority for us, it’s likely won’t be a priority for the child either.

Heads up Teton County!
WYDOT and Evans Construction will be paving sections of US 26/89 through the Town of Jackson beginning this Monday, Sept. 23. Crews will be returning to pave the sections they milled at night a few weeks ago. The work will take place on the asphalt sections of the highway from High School Road to the 5-way intersection with Flat Creek Drive and Pearl Ave near Wendy’s, as well as a small section on Wyoming State Highway 22 near the Y intersection of US 26/89 and WYO 22.
Paving operations will take place during daytime hours and work should last roughly 2 weeks. Drivers will be able to access businesses through the work zone while construction is underway.
While the work is underway, WYDOT and the contractor will make every effort to maintain two-way traffic and access to businesses within the 5-lane sections to help reduce delays and congestion. The work has been scheduled at this time to avoid peak summer traffic while still meeting WYDOT’s specifications for paving temperatures. The work is scheduled to conclude on Oct. 11.

UPDATE: Beartooth Pass (US212) is scheduled to reopen to traffic at about 1:30 p.m. today (Sept. 19)
Solid preemptive storm decision Tuesday to close the Wyoming side of U.S. 212 over Beartooth Pass. This decision kept travelers safe. Storm statistics: 4-5 inches of snow, and drifting up to 4 feet. National Park Service crews plowed throughout the day; the plan is to reopen the highway as soon as possible.

High winds and an extreme blow-over risk are returning to Wyoming. Expect a variety of late summer/early fall weather as well over the next 24 to 36 hours. High winds, rain, strong to severe t-storms and mountain snowfall!
Child Passenger Safety tip of the day:
Once your child outgrows the rear-facing car seat, they are ready to travel in a forward-facing car seat with a harness and tether. Keep your child in a forward-facing car seat until they reach the top height or weight limit allowed by the car seat manufacturer.

US26/287 over Togwotee Pass is open for free-flowing traffic. Motorists may still experience smoke and sometimes limited visibility. A 45-mph speed restriction remains in effect for the fire area. Motorists are encouraged to stay alert for fire personnel and fire vehicles and use caution when travelling through the area.
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) continues to work closely with Fremont County Emergency Management, Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and fire officials for the safety of motorists and firefighters.
The fire continues to smolder in heavy timber, litter, dead and down timber, and younger mixed conifers. Minimal fire behavior is expected. Creeping, smoldering, and backing behavior of the fire will continue with an occasional single tree torching.
Firefighters and heavy equipment will continue to work in the Highway 26/287 corridor. Please drive with caution. Public and firefighter safety continues to be our highest priority on the Fish Creek Fire.

I-80 bridge deck damage has been addressed
CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Crews with the Wyoming Department of Transportation have addressed damage to a bridge deck on Interstate 80 in Cheyenne.
On Saturday evening, Sept. 14, WYDOT maintenance crews were alerted to minor debris on the eastbound I-80 bridge deck spanning US Highway 85/S. Greeley Highway at mile marker 362. WYDOT Crews and Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the area and determined the pot hole was not in immediate need of repair.
On Sunday, Sept. 15, monitoring crews saw that the damaged area had grown into a hole through the bridge deck. Crews deployed a mobile operation to patch the section with a concrete patch that day.
Today, WYDOT crews are completing that patch. Engineers have determined the bridge is safe to carry live traffic. WYDOT will continue to monitor the structure and bridge deck.
We've received reports that GPS systems like Google Maps are erroneously reporting I-80 westbound is closed near Little America. I-80 is open at this time. There is construction in the area that may be causing this issue.
If you ever have doubts about what your GPS is telling you, check for closures at www.wyoroad.info - our official source
We are working with Google to try to resolve the issue

Heads up Casper!
CASPER – WYDOT will close northbound I-25 from Bryan Stock Trail to Poplar Street early Friday (Sept. 13) morning to replace about 150 feet of newly installed guardrail that was destroyed Wednesday night near the Center Street northbound off ramp.
Crews are planning to close the northbound lane at 3 a.m. and expect to reopen the lane at 6 a.m. Northbound traffic will exit at the Bryan Stock Trail/Beverly Street (exit 186) and will be detoured to Amoco Road and back to the Shoshoni Bypass interchange.
Traffic can also access WYO 220 (Poplar Street) from this detour. Interstate 25 is reduced to one lane, both directions, due to ongoing bridge construction in the area.
The closure will affect northbound traffic only. Please be aware of reduced speed, workers and equipment through this two-lane stretch of interstate.
