has been honored as a winner in the "Yes San Francisco, Urban Sustainability Challenge" alongside !
This initiative sought out the most innovative ideas to help transform San Francisco into a model city for sustainability, focusing on revitalizing urban spaces and pioneering new infrastructure. We're proud to say that our proposal was chosen.
Our achievement is a collective effort, made possible by the support of the City of San Francisco, the SF Chamber of Commerce, and the San Francisco Environment Department. We're also in good company with contributions from , , and venture support from , , and .
What does this mean for Zauben? It means we'll be working closely with these partners to bring our nature based climate technology—like our living walls and green roofs—to life in the heart of San Francisco.
The co-working lobby of 332 S Michigan offers sweeping views of Chicago's Lake Michigan and Millennium Park, a view that could easily overshadow any interior. However, a curated selection of 8ft potted plants bridges the gap between the indoor environment and the nature beyond the glass. The result is a harmonious blend of interior and exterior, a sanctuary that feels connected to the world outside.
Thank you and for entrusting us with the task of 'greening' your latest co-working space.

Model Z by Zauben.
No plumbing or drainage is required with our living wall technology. The Model Z holds a 1 month watering tank at the base that recirculates water throughout the living wall and uses 75% less water than soil.
Our Model Z living wall can reduce indoor sounds by an average of 15 decibels — the difference in volume between a vacuum cleaner (75 dBA) and a lawnmower (90 dBA).
Enjoy a calmer, quieter workspace.

Global urbanization is increasing, but so are the challenges that cities face. With 55 percent of today’s global population currently living in cities and nearly 70 percent projected to be urban dwellers by 2050, the importance of cities is only growing. Already, they’re responsible for 80 percent of global GDP. Yet issues tied to COVID, climate change, affordability, and inequality threaten the social and economic dynamism of urban environments.

On Earth day and partner to bring natural environments to the workplace. Through this partnership, Zauben will bring its showroom to the Industrious Fulton Market location.
•“We spend 90 percent of our lives indoors. This lack of exposure to the natural world affects our mood, energy levels, sleep rhythm, physical and mental health,” says Zach Smith CEO at Zauben.
•”At Industrious, we’re always looking for new ways to bring our members the best experience possible so we’re thrilled to be hosting Zauben’s Model Z living wall, said Rachel Gursky SVP of Customer Experience at Industrious.
“We recently installed a Model Z wall at GCE Lab School's new Chicago Loop campus. First, the wall is beautiful. It brings life to public space just outside our science lab. Two weeks after installation, students still slow as they pass it, take pictures in front of it, and marvel simply at this living piece. It is a signature, and we love it. We are grateful for its aesthetics, sound dampening properties, and the promise of improved air quality. Additionally, the team from Zauben has been a pleasure to work with from start to end. In addition, of course, to furnishing and maintaining the wall, they are working with us to understand the science and mechanics of the wall, so that we can share it with students and make it an occasion for learning. Thank you for helping us to bring life to our space, making our facility a dynamic context to activate student engagement.”

On average people spend one-third of their life at work. That adds up to more than 90,000 hours over the average American’s lifetime. That means if our workplace doesn’t foster health and well-being, employees are likely to suffer.
There’s no denying that the pandemic has changed the way business and their employees interact with their workplaces, with offices beginning to take on new designs as they serve new purposes. In fact 72 percent of companies report they intend to offer a hybrid working model after the pandemic. Yet, organizations are still unsure about how to optimize and revise the layout, design, and amenities within their offices to successfully make this transition.
The visual aesthetic and layout of an office make a difference in the mental wellness of those who will spend countless hours working within it. Create spaces that further promote prioritizing mental health within an office, and it will have a positive effect on the overall working environment.
One of the best things you can do to ease your employees back into the office environment is lending an ear. Listen to your worker’s needs as they navigate these uncertain times and show them that you have their best interests at heart.
Looking for a quiet and calmer office space? Our products can help reduce indoor sounds by an average of 15 decibels; this is the difference in volume between a vacuum cleaner (75 dBA) and a lawnmower (90 dBA).
A study by a research group at the University of Exter, in association with Indoor Garden Design, found that living walls in an office can boost wellbeing by up to 47%. Plants help increase the flow of oxygen in the body, lower blood pressure and heart rate, strengthen the immune system, cleanse the lungs, alleviate stress, and energize the body.
Research by Harvard states that 70% of employees believe views of nature improve their work performance. Thankfully, you don’t need an office overlooking a park to reap these benefits. Setting up living walls within workspaces provides the same nature filled environment employees need in order to thrive.
A survey from Champion Health shows 90% of UK employees believe the pandemic had impacted their mental health, while a similar survey reported more than 40% of businesses are extremely worried about the impact the pandemic is likely to have on their employees.
One of the most exciting changes to the workplace has been the growing popularity of biophilic design, including its incorporation of natural elements into offices. The term biophilic design is derived from the Greek words “bios” and “philia,” meaning love of life or living things.
The average person will spend 90,000 hours at work over a lifetime. With so much of their life being spent within the workplace, it comes as no surprise that employees now want this space to encompass and meet the needs of their lifestyle - even when they’re not actively engaging in work tasks.

Innovative design is eco-friendly. We’ve engineered our products so that every Model Z living wall uses 1,200 recycled plastic bottles.
Not surprisingly, the demand for prioritizing employee health and wellness is now greater than ever before. A survey from Champion Health showed 90% of UK employees believed the pandemic had impacted their mental health, while a similar survey reported more than 40% of businesses are extremely worried about the impact the pandemic is likely to have on their employees.
One of the most exciting changes to the workplace has been the growing popularity of biophilic design, including its incorporation of natural elements into offices. The term biophilic design is derived from the Greek words “bios” and “philia” meaning love of life or living things.
In architecture, biophilic design is a sustainable strategy that aims to reconnect people with the natural environment.
