“These are absolutely transformational times.” New research reported this week at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference suggests that, in the future, highly accurate blood tests could improve diagnosis in primary care, making testing more accessible and less invasive. They could also provide a quicker path to research participation and treatment.
Because you fundraise for Walk to end Alzheimer's, research like this is possible. Thank you!
In a large research study, reported for the first time at and partially funded by the Association, blood tests 🩸 did a better job of accurately detecting Alzheimer's than primary care doctors and specialists who were using traditional diagnostic methods.
The test was around 90% accurate in identifying Alzheimer’s in patients with cognitive symptoms at primary care and specialized memory care clinics compared to 63% and 73% accuracy when not using the test.
Why this is exciting: Highly accurate blood tests could drastically reduce the time it takes to get a diagnosis, as well as accelerate access to new treatments.

Since 2016, more than 115,000 people have participated in Walk to End Alzheimer’s under the Edward Jones National Team banner.
To date, Edward Jones has raised more than $45 million for the fight to end Alzheimer’s and have pledged to raise $50 million by the end of 2025. Thank you, Edward Jones!
