For this Feel Good Friday, we are spotlighting the fantastic staff of the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (JTDC). ❤️🩹
Union League Boys & Girls Clubs has partnered with the JTDC since 2014. They see, on average, 200 youth a day. Our Club at the JTDC is not only fully equipped with mentoring, caring, and knowledgable staff, but they also provide 68 programs to the youth, including a highly engaging drone program that takes place outdoors, and Street SMARTs, a program led by Edwin C., who just celebrated 30 years with ULBGC, that has been proven to enhance the youth's street smarts and life skills.
💙Ms. Brown, Ms. Ramos, Edwin, and the Juvenile Temporary Detention Center staff provide the youth with a SAFE, SECURE, and CARING environment with programs and structures that enhance personal development and improve opportunities for success upon return to the community.💙
Guess What!?! Camp’s First Session starts in 12 Days!!!

Our Story
Together we are changing lives.
For over 100 years, the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs have served the after-school development needs of at-risk youth in Chicago. The organization also staffs and manages 11 Club sites and its own 247-acre summer camp in Salem, Wisconsin where youth from Chicago’s inner city participate in enrichment activities in an environment free from drugs, gangs and violence. In 2014, the Union League Boys & Girls Clubs launched a programming initiative at the Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center aimed at reducing the high rate of recidivism among the juvenile detainees. In 2015, we opened two new Boys & Girls Clubs in Chicago’s Englewood and South Lawndale communities.
The organization currently serves 15,000 enrolled members between the ages of 6 and 18. Each day, more than 1,600 youth take part in programming focused on academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character and citizenship.
