Congratulations to Milo Platz Walker, who is the 2024 GRAND CHAMPION for AAU Karate's 17-year-old black belt division. This means he not only won gold in his competitive light-weight kumite (sparring) division, but he also won a special bout against the heavy-weight champion during an exciting "finals" event on Saturday night.
Milo has been our student since he was 7 years old, and since then he has said "yes" to every challenge and opportunity — and he's done it with a smile. He's a fierce and passionate competitor, and he's also a positive role model who respects his sensei and classmates.
These past few years, Milo has also taken on many leadership roles at our dojo — from working the front desk, to assisting in Kinder Karate and family classes, to serving as one of our team coaches. He is as well-known for his offensive jabs as he is for his kind and fun-loving spirit.
Our dojo loves Milo, and we are so happy he gets to have this well-deserved moment of glory. 🥰👊🏽🏆
Even more memorable moments from the 2024 AAU Karate Nationals. 🥹😤😅🥰
The 2024 AAU Karate National Championships are a wrap! 🏆🏆🏆
This past week, our 48 athletes from age 6 to 55 demonstrated amazing skill, poise, fighting spirit, and sportsmanship on a national stage, and we couldn’t be more proud of them.
We are also proud of and grateful to our strong team of instructors and senior students who served as coaches and referees throughout this event. They put a great deal of energy, heart, and thoughtfulness into countless interactions with our athletes, families, and others, and our team couldn’t function without them.
What’s more, the families who travel with us could not be more supportive and have proved in countless ways that it really does take a village.
Our hearts are full! ❤️❤️❤️
