Most of the calls dispatchers handle are about negative events, such as domestic disputes or car crashes. Even though they can be stressful calls, childbirth calls are refreshing an uplifting and it's not uncommon for 911 Dispatchers to receive an active labor call. Few get the opportunity to assist with the delivery. In fact, some dispatchers can go an entire career without relaying birthing instructions over the phone.

Wade has been with our department just over 8 years and has earned his first Stork Award! Wade assisted a family in the early morning hours of August 4, 2024 with a delivery of their baby girl prior to emergency responders arriving on scene. Wade provided calming instructions, as well as obtained and relayed critical information to emergency responders.

Wade was given a stork pin along with a certificate, and of course bragging rights for his efforts.
