Members Brad Pavlik (President-Elect), Larry Schmidt (1st VP-Elect), Christopher Lanier (Lt. Governor-Elect) and Juliette Roake (Administrative Secretary) attended the Kentucky Tennessee District of Kiwanis International District Convention in Gatlinburg, TN. We attended workshops, participated in games and fellowship with others from the district, had free time, attended board meetings and general sessions. It was an informative DCON and we are looking to a productive year serving the children of the community.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers, dedicated to improving the world, one child and one community at a time.

We were glad to partner with Yaipak and hand out socks to all of the children

The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville was involved with the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System Back-to-School Block Party hosted at Kenwood High School. Over 2000 children were given over 6,000 pairs of socks. Vendors from all over gathered and the children enjoyed face painting, haircuts, shaved ice, bouncy houses, learned about reaources in our community, etc. One of our board members had heard about this event at a school board meeting. After finding out shoes were donated, we could fill the need for socks. Through our partnership with Yaipak, we made this happen in short order. Kiwanians Mark and Rhana Hackett, Joe Smith, Michael Lankford, and Chris Lanier served. Jeff Burkhart, Jamie Peltz, Joshua Beal, Conner Noe, Carrie, Emily and Bowman Lanier also came to help after hearing what we were trying to make happen. It was a great event with local vendors as the children of CMCSS get prepared to go back to school in the coming weeks. Our mission statement is: “Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time”. What an incredible day! For today’s program, we celebrated Deputy Speaker Curtis Johnson’s amazing 20 year career in the State Legislation. His contributions to not only Clarksville/Montgomery County but to the entire State of Tennessee have been an immeasurable boon of positive change for the residents who call it home. Secretary of State Tre Hargett, Comptroller Jason Mumpower, and State Treasurer David Lillard all spoke of Representative Johnson’s friendship and amazing professional acumen. In attendance were Mayors Joe Pitts and Wes Golden, as well as a number of other elected officials. We wish Deputy Speaker Curtis Johnson all the best of health and happiness in his upcoming retirement and look forward to seeing him at more meetings in the future!
