Wes Kitts competed in the Olympic weightlifting competition on Saturday, representing Team USA in the 102-kilogram division. Kitts finished eighth overall, matching his performance from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics!

Alum Wes Kitts will compete in the Olympic weightlifting competition this Saturday, representing Team USA!
“Representing Team USA is one of the greatest honors. Every time I put on the red, white and blue and get on the platform, it’s just been such an amazing opportunity. If there’s one thing I love about Olympic weightlifting, it is that I get to represent the country, and doing it at the Olympics is just such a special opportunity.”
Kitts graduated from Austin Peay in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in applied exercise science. He credits his time as a college athlete for preparing him for Olympic-level competition.
“Being an NCAA athlete prepared me for this in a number of ways. Especially in football, I was already doing really tough workouts with the team. I got used to what it felt like to be with the team, what it felt like to work hard in a weight room. All my hardest workouts will forever be the ones I did as a football player.”

Asjion Catlett recently returned from an incredible journey with the NSF's International Research Experiences for Students program at the University of Rzeszow in Poland. Catlett’s research aimed to help detect Fabry disease and Gaucher disease using chalcogenide glass fibers to analyze particles in patients’ bodies.
Austin Peay's participation in the NSF’s IRES program underscores the institution's commitment to providing transformative experiences for its students. By engaging in international research collaborations, students like Catlett are well-positioned to become the next generation of globally-minded scientists and healthcare professionals.

Welcome to the official page of Austin Peay State University. APSU is a four-year public university located in Clarksville, TN.
At Austin Peay, we are large enough to offer you a broad range of educational and social options, but small enough to treat you as an individual. That’s because we provide all of the resources of a big university, with a small college feel. We serve a large population of diverse students with several degree options at the associates, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels. Many of these degrees can be pursued on campus and online. Austin Peay also is working to support the region’s economic growth with several new programs that cater to the employment needs of local industries and the surrounding community.
