Y’all already know what time it is! Happy Wingman Wednesday from C/Dixon and C/Song (with glasses) 🤝🪽👨
C/Dixon always has his wingman's back. His passion, running GMC nights is interestingly enough how I got to meet him. As a fresh 250 last year, I spent an incredible amount of time with him learning drills from the ground up. Looking back, it is incredible how much patience he had, to be able to guide me from 0 to where I'm at today. It goes much more than just being a cadet. From him, I've learned so much about just being a good dude in general. Whatever challenges he faces, he takes them on with full stoic concentration and dedication. Im optimistic for my future time in the Air Force, knowing that there are good people like C/Dixon around. -C/Song; AS300
C/Song (with glasses) always provides a fresh new perspective to any conversation. I first got to know C/Song last Spring, since he was regular attendee at my GMC Nights. What started out as mentorship quickly developed into wingmanship, which soon became friendship. Just like with a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get with C/Song. That only makes conversations with him even more interesting. Overall, C/Song is great wingman and an even better person. Our unwavering support, shared laughter, and genuine companionship helps enrich our shared journey through college and AFROTC, turning even ordinary moments into lasting memories. -C/Dixon; AS300
And just like that,
This week all cadets both IMT and FTP were put to the test while taking their Warrior Knowledge Final and doing the final wing wide inspections of the semester.
Cadets hit the ground running in the morning beginning with the Final. An exam consisting of all of the WK all the cadets have learned up to this point. Following the final FTP cadets ventured into a war fighting assets GLP.
Next, we had the honor of listening to some powerful words spoken by our guest speaker Lieutenant Colonel Kang Ret. He shared with us his journey through AFROTC, Active Duty, creating his own company, KIHOMAC, and all the lessons he’s learned along the way.
We concluded this week’s LLAB with the final wing-wide inspection of the semester. All cadets both GMC and POC alike had the final opportunity this semester to show off the sharpness of their uniforms as well as their Warrior Knowledge.
Lots of great effort, dedication, and tenacity were exhibited not only this Thursday but all Thursdays throughout this semester! That’s a wrap on training for this semester. We are so incredibly proud of our cadets here at Det 330 and we can’t wait to see what they bring to the table next semester! 💙🤍✈️
“Good leaders build products. Great leaders build cultures. Good leaders deliver results. Great leaders develop people. Good leaders have vision. Great leaders have values. Good leaders are role models at work. Great leaders are role models in life.” ~ Adam Grant
Here at Detachment 330, year in and year out, many cadets are wielded and shaped into very good leaders. Our very own C/Patel, C/Williams, and C/Mathews are proof that very good leaders can continuously grow and amount into great leaders! Last Thursday, C/Williams and C/Patel were named the scholarship recipients of the National Defense Industrial Association’s ROTC Award! What an outstaring achievement! On the other hand, C/Mathews received the National Defense Industrial Association’s Major General James E. McInerney, Jr. Scholar Award. She was awarded the overall largest award for all ROTC Detachments in the Northern Central Region! C/Williams, C/Patel, and C/Mathews continue to be all around inspirations to all of us here at Det 330.
We could not be more proud of our fellow cadets’ astounding accomplishments! Your consistent dedication and achievements continue to encourage and show those who will come after you what it means to be great! 👏💙🤍✈️😎💪
As we approach the end of this semester we would like to announce and present a huge congratulations to our Top 3 for the Spring 2024 semester!
(pictured in order)
Wing Commander: Cadet Cayla Williams
Vice Wing Commander: Cadet Jasmine Abercrombie
Chief of Staff: Cadet Kellie Dodson
We are so very proud of you all for achieving this incredible accomplishment and we thank you for your continued dedication and service to the AFROTC program and most importantly our Detachment.
Forever and always,
OLD LINE. STRONG LINE. ✈️💙🤍

They never saw it coming 😏 …
This week, boy were our FTP cadets in for a wild ride. Enter, 2023 Fall Semester’s Capstone! FTP cadets’ skills were put to the ultimate test with Capstone being the most intense and most evaluated LLAB of the semester. The pressure was on like no other Thursday thus far. Cadets were split off into completely different flights with completely different trainers and then broken off into 3 separate squadrons. All 3 squadrons migrated to McKeldin Mall to tap into some squadron marching. After this, cadets moved to the Armory Courts to begin their drill assessment through the completion of FDEs. During FDEs, each flight would go down to the Armory Computer lab at separate times in order to complete FTO interviews.
All the while FTP cadets were going through their training, our IMT cadets were off to work in Road Guard Procedures and a GLP. The GLP entailed working together and doing what is necessary to compile 3 evacuation plans for military personnel and their family members as well as military base equipment before a hurricane hit in 48 hours.
The wing concluded morning training with weekly Commander’s Minute and announcements. Such incredible effort put into this week’s training. We only keep going up from here!
Until next time! 🧢🗿💪😎🫡
Back at it again with two wonderful wingman in the house! This week features C/Matthia and C/Jenkins, Happy Wingman Wednesday everyone! 🤩✨
“When I first joined the program I was very shy and did not really talk to many people. I ended up meeting C/Matthia who ended up knowing French and I thought it was really cool she knew another language. We quickly became friends and every week we’d help each other succeed from our worst and best times. I can’t give any credit to myself for what I’ve done in the program without the help of her and we had a lot of differences but quickly grew together. We worked well as a team and she always had a bright and shining mood every Thursday morning and we were always there for each other. Whether it was motivating each other during PT or forcing me to sing songs I never want to hear again it was always fun and I’m glad to have her as a friend because nobody can replace the things she’s done for me and I’m thankful for everything she’s done.” -C/Jenkins; AS200 🫂
"C/Jenkins was my very first friend in the program and is to this day my very bestfriend. He’s been through it all with me, and always makes tough situations seem manageable. Some of the unique aspects of C/Jenkins' personality include his preference for plain milk, his consistent choice of chicken tenders and fries from the kids' menu, and his fondness for sayings things like 'Geez Louise,' which never fails to amuse me. Although we may have different personalities, what truly unites us is our support for each other and our shared commitment to each other's success. We've grown and learned together, and I'm profoundly grateful for his friendship. I cannot wait to see him succeed and all of his hard work pay off :)" -C/Matthia; AS200 💛
Last weekend, IMT and FTP cadets gathered at Gunpowder Military Base to participate in our second round of FLX training. Cadets were taught various combat/war tactics by our fellow POC cadets that they would then apply to two different mission scenarios. A lot of hard work and brainpower went into the entirety of this training day. Each and every cadet showed up and put in a ton of great effort. Surely, the tactics, tips, and tricks learned here will aid in helping our cadets shine at Field Training and eventually out in the Big Blue! 😎💪✈️
Run for those who ran for us 🇺🇸🏃♂️
Next Saturday, November 11, at 9 AM Dev Club will be hosting a 5K run for Veterans Day with the help of College Park parkrun. This event is open to EVERYONE, not just cadets! This is a great opportunity to run with the community while commemorating those who have served in the Military.
Although this event is free to sign up, donations are encouraged. Half of all proceeds will go towards the Wounded Warrior Project: a nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans.

LLAB 10
Winding down from last week’s LLAB, both GMC and POC cadets jumped right back into regularly scheduled training and certainly hit the ground running. With a slight change in plans, our FTP cadets were strategically and yet randomly rearranged and reassigned into different flights. Each cadet was presented with a training style different from the one they experienced regularly every week. This brought out the ultimate skills of adaptability and, overall, the best in our FTP cadets.
While some new changes were occurring on one side of the Armory Courts, our IMT cadets worked through road guard procedures on the other side of the courts. Our POC cadets were hard at work with some wargaming in the classrooms below.
Following these activities, all cadets then moved to armory room 0126 for the rest LLAB. Here cadets were presented with a PFA and Safety briefing for next week’s LLAB, where they will be taking their official PFA. We’ve been putting in a lot of extraordinary effort here at Det 330 when it comes to physical training, so we anticipate lots of success next week. 💪😤 The briefings were followed by our weekly announcements and our awards for the month of October. Special congratulations to all those cadets who received awards this month; keep up the outstanding work!
Last but certainly not least, the Detachment had the privilege of hearing words of wisdom from the USAF OSI Commander, Colonel Amy S. Bumgarner. We were incredibly fortunate enough for her to take the time out of her day to travel to us and speak about her inspirational career journey and offer enriching advice that we will surely internalize and use on our paths and journies throughout life.
That’s a close for this week’s LLAB. Ten down, only a few more to go. It’s crazy how much time flies. We’ll see you all next week with some PFA content; stay ready. 😎✌️
Happy Wingman Wednesday everyone! 🫂🤞 This week’s features are C/Cui and C/Keffler, enjoy!
“C/Keffler is one of the most reliable people I know! She's always there for her wingmen and provides a lot of morale to the team. I first got to know her when we were both moved to Charlie flight and we've been close friends ever since. She always boosts people's energy with her outgoing personality and encourages everyone to always do their best while cheering them on at the same time.” - C/Cui; AS100 💫
"I wouldn't have been able to make it to FLX without my wingmen there to carpool with and help me. If Cui hadn't let me park at her house and then drive to GMU and then Gunpowder together, I wouldn't have had a way there. She works way harder than she needs to because she always wants to help her wingmen, and I wouldn't have lasted nearly this long in ROTC without her. We passed out together in the back of C/Cisneros' car while driving home and slept for nearly the entire two hour trip. This is, miraculously, despite the fact that he blasted rap and heavy metal at max volume the entire time. I don't know where I would be without my friends from Det 330." - C/Keffler; AS100 💫

Monsters were called, and the call was answered! 🧟♂️🧛♀️🧌🧙👹
This week we had our annual Halloween-themed LLAB. Cadets were able to come to the LLAB dressed up in their “Scariest best”. We had Star Wars characters, prisoners, Toy Story characters, superheroes, villains, and so much more. The day was spook-tastic, so let’s jump right in!
We start off with FTP cadets executing a competitive GLP exercise. Each flight had a specific cadet chosen to lead the flight in drill movements to maneuver them through an obstacle course. Lots of leadership was showcased and put on display. Each flight put up a good fight, but in the end, Golf Flight came in first! Nice job Golf Flight! 💪💣
Following that, all cadets moved to the classroom to do the weekly Commander’s Minute and announcements. Both IMT and FTP cadets were then briefed on an in-depth FLX briefing. Cadets were given an overview of the leadership experience they would take part in that following Saturday and were informed of those who would be taking on significant leadership roles. Lastly, IMT and FTP cadets had another opportunity to show off how much they’ve been studying by taking another Warrior Knowledge quiz. Believe it or not, the final is closer than it seems, so keep up the good work! 🤓📚✏️
Next, everyone moved back to the courts to participate in a bearing contest! IMT and FTP cadets stood at attention for as long as they could while POC cadets roamed through the flights interacting with cadets in attempts to break their bearing. IMT and FTP cadets alike put up a good fight, but only a few were left standing. As a wing, we then concluded the day with our annual ex*****on of pie-in-the-face. This is a part of an annual fundraiser that the Detachment holds. The wing truly stepped up this year and not only raised a healthy amount of funds for the Det, but we also had the opportunity to build a lot of morale and have plenty of good laughs at the end of training. 🥧😶🌫️😋
That concludes LLAB content for this week! Be on the lookout for next week’s updates. Have a happy Halloween, and we’ll see you all then! 👻🎃👋
Welcome back to another wonderful Wingman Wednesday featuring C/Chowdhury and C/Gunklach! ☺️🙌
C/Chowdhury was one of the very first friends I made in this program because we were on the same flight during NSO. Despite knowing her for just a few months, she has already become an incredible friend whom I can always rely on and approach with any questions. She's a very kind and supportive friend, always there to lend a helping hand whenever I need it. I appreciate her funny ways of cheering people up, which really shows that she cares. C/Chowdhury always puts in a lot of effort into everything she does and is the definition of a GREAT wingman!! -C/Gunklach; AS100 ✈️💪
Back at it again with another spectacular Wingman Wednesday! This week’s features includes yours truly, C/Miree and C/Kallab! 😁🙌
“C/Kallab is simply amazing. He’s more than just a friend, he’s the guy you can always count on. When things get tough, he’s the one who’s got your back, bringing smiles and laughter effortlessly. His positivity can turn even the gloomiest day around, and his laughter is infectious. What makes C/Kallab truly special is his knowledge. Seriously, he knows everything! Whenever we’re stuck or confused, he’s there with the right answers, making complicated stuff seem easy. He’s like our go-to encyclopedia, always ready to help out. I can confidently say that with C/Kallab around, our squadron feels like a family, and that makes all the difference. He truly makes the ROTC experience better for everyone around him, and I'm lucky to have him by my side.” -C/Miree; AS200
“C/Miree is the voice of 47th squadron. I can't count how many times I have tried to address 47th squadron, and C/Miree is always the first cadet to yell at everyone to listen. She gives people a voice and makes sure they are properly supported. I can confidently say that C/Miree has my back, especially when we want to go to IHOP. She doesn't play around with breakfast no matter the time of day. C/Miree always comes to LLAB with a smile on her face making her an extremely approachable cadet to talk to and vibe with. C/Miree is literally an Uber driver for ROTC. She always offers to drive other cadets to wherever they need to be for anything ROTC-related. Lastly, the best thing about C/Miree is that she always remembers to include other cadets when it comes to making plans. Again, I've literally never been invited to IHOP so many times in my life. I know C/Miree will definitely be one of my long-term friends and wingmen.” -C/Kallab; AS200

Evaluation Time!!! 🧠📚✏️🤓
This week both IMT and FTP cadets jumped right into their midterm evaluations. FTP cadets began in the courts. They showed off their drill knowledge in some FDEs. All the while, IMT cadets performed squadron marching on McKeldin Mall.
Moving right along, all cadets then went into armory room 0126 to engage in our weekly Commander’s’ Call and announcements. Active shooter procedures were next. In today’s world it’s important that all students learn the necessary safety precautions to take during unspeakable situations.
Finally, IMT and FTP cadets put their knowledge to the ultimate test while taking their midterms. As cadets, we know that Warrior Knowledge is a very important part of our ROTC journeys, so it’s vital that we know our WK not just in our heads but also in our hearts. Cadets concluded LLAB with some mentorship time and flight debriefs.
Very nice work and preparation shown by all cadets this week. Keep making yourselves proud! In other news, we are so looking forward to Career Day next week! Come ready to take notes, ask lots of questions, and have high hopes! HUA ✈️😎💪
ITS ALMOST TIMEEEE
Happy Wingman Wednesday everyone! 🫂🤞 This week’s features are C/Jackson and C/Sane, enjoy!
“A couple weeks ago I had a medical mishap after I consumed a certain energy drink. It was a really scary time for me however, I was lucky enough to have C/Sane with me through it all. She went out of her way to drive me to the ER and stayed and waited almost 2 hours with me until I got seen. She stayed by my side in the hospital room and when my appointment was over she drove me to her place so I could stay the night with someone instead of staying alone back on campus at UMD. C/Sane always knows how to alleviate a stressful situation, I believe that is why she is one of my favorite wingman. She is always making me laugh, lifting my spirits, and caring for me when I am in need. I am so thankful to have met C/Sane and to have someone like her to lean on in this program and in life! In conclusion,
Don’t drink Celsius if you have issues with caffeine. However, if you do anyway, make sure you have a C/Sane by your side 🤝🏿🫂💪🏿
AIRPOWER ✈️😎”
-C/Jackson; AS500
“I am so lucky to have met one of my favorite wingman, C/Jackson. From the moment I met her in our AS100 class, we clicked right away. In those little moments that we shared I found her to be the person I can lean on, someone I can always come too (vice versa), and someone that gets the type of person I am. C/Jackson and I have the best laughs and great conversations. So much so that I didn’t even know that we were in the ER for 3 hours. I know she always has my back and I always have hers. She is a great representation of what leading with a strong head and with courage looks like. I am proud to call her not only a wingman, but also a true friend.
Oh and say no to Celsius. Just walk away from it.
AIRPOWER✈️😎”

Safety comes first 👷‼️
IMT started the morning off with intermediate drill and FTP headed outside to learn road guard procedures while getting evaluated on warrior knowledge during FTO interviews!
Concluding announcements, the wing was briefed on power based violence resources and prevention by Grace Boudreau from the CARE Team.
Following this, Reveille was held on the armory steps. IMT and FTP cadets then returned to intermediate drill and road guard procedures.
This past Thursday showed us the importance of physical and mental safety that we hold as a top priority in this detachment. With this in mind, lets get ready to fly higher next week! 💪
Sending a burst of wingmanship your way from the dynamic trio - C/Pinkham, C/Premenko, and C/Mckinzie! Happy Wingman Wednesday everyone! 🙌💙
“C/Premenko and C/McKinzie were some of the first cadets that I became close with in my flight at field training. They were very friendly and super easy to talk to. We got to know each other very well and became good friends. We would check over each other’s uniforms, help each other out, and encourage each other when someone was feeling down. We still talk when we are having trouble with something and need advice, or just want to rant. I don’t think I would have had as much fun at field training as I did, if I wasn’t in Golf Flight.” -C/Pinkham; AS300

To 76 years of excellence! ✈️🎉
Our wing started off the day with Initial Inspections. And, of course, there's nothing like the early morning reveille to awaken the spirit of discipline, leadership, and service.
Following Commanders' Call and announcements, we came together to celebrate the 76th Birthday of the United States Air Force. A truly momentous occasion!
After receiving a thorough GLP briefing, GMC cadets demonstrated their dedication to excellence by executing a GLP properly. The dedication to learning the basics of military leadership showed in every action.
The learning continued as our 47th Squadron cadets focused on Building Entry procedures, meanwhile, our POC cadets unleashed their competitive spirits in an exhilarating game of Icarus. This friendly contest not only showcased their camaraderie but also their relentless pursuit of excellence.
Approaching the one-third mark of this semester, it's essential to recognize that challenges are the fuel for our growth. Let's rise above them, embrace our potential, and soar with determination! Airpower, always! 💪🌟
You already know what time it is 😎 Happy Wingman Wednesday!! 💪🤩🤞Solid line up for today, C/Catlett and C/McCarthy!
"C/McCarthy became my friend first semester of our IMT year. We just clicked right away. Second semester we definitely became closer and now we’re practically inseparable. She is the definition of a good wingman. Whether I’m sick, sad, happy, stressed, she is always there by my side. You can’t get through this program without your wingman and I couldn’t be happier to call C/McCarthy not only my wingman, but one of my best friends." -C/Catlett; AS200
"I remember the first time I met C/Catlett all too well. It was our very first LLAB of our IMT year and the second we found out we were in the same flight we latched on to one another. Since then we’ve been joined at the hip. While she might not be the best at dealing with technological issues, she is one of the most reliable people I know. No matter what challenges either of us is facing, I know I can always rely on her to support me in every way. C/Catlett and I have grown so much together over the past year and I can’t wait for what the future has in store!❤️” -C/McCarthy; AS200

Say Cheese 😁📸
This week was in processing, where cadets had their photos taken for this semester. During this time, IMT were given drill briefings as well as executing change of command. FTP transited to McKeldin Mall to practice campus marching.
During announcements, we had amazing news to present to the detachment: the seniors AFSC’s reveal! Congratulations to all the seniors and we wish you luck next year with your assignment!
After this exciting reveal, IMT and FTP cadets took a warrior knowledge quiz. On the courts, IMT practiced intermediate drill while FTP learned guidon procedures. To finish it off, all cadets returned to the classroom for a Project Go briefing.
More than proud!
A little over a week ago, right on steps of the Armory, our core value of excellence was exemplified through the achievement of one of our very own. We are extending the greatest congratulations to, newly minted, Major Patterson! We are incredibly proud of all of the hard work and dedication you have and continue to put into 100% of what you do! Thank you for being such an inspiration to all of the cadets here at Det 330! We wish you the best of luck in all of the amazing things you’ll continue to do in the Big Blue! As for us, on behalf of you, we’ll continue to keep GETTING IT! 🫡💪✈️
Always,
Old Line, Strong Line 💙🤍
Wishing you all a happy Wingman Wednesday! 🤩🫂 This week’s features are C/Arora and C/Vohra!
“C/Vohra is one of the first people I met in this program, he has grown throughout our time here with his hard work and dedication, I’m proud for what he has accomplished and for the challenges he has defeated. Vohra is a very intellectual person and has some of the greatest ideas in order to solve problems. Whenever I need assistance with anything I know I can rely on him. Outside of the program we play video games together and workout.” -C/Arora; AS300
“C/Arora was one of the first people I met in the program, we instantly became friends due to having family members that served in the Indian military. He has always found a way to cheer me up and deal with me. He’s an amazing leader and has helped me learn and improve myself. We went to the same max and graduated from field training together. Outside of ROTC we play games and work out together. He is the definition of a good and caring wingman.” -C/Vohra; AS300
2,996.
Today we commemorate the lives of the service men and women, as well as the lives of civilians, that were lost on this day twenty-two years ago in the worst terrorist attack to ever occur on American soil.
To pay our respects the cadets of Detachment 330 joined forces with cadets from Army ROTC as well as midshipmen from Navy ROTC here at UMD to participate in a memorial run early this morning. Escorted by policeman, cadets and midshipmen alike ran around campus in silence and in solidarity to pay tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice that day.
Following the run, C/Dixon, represented Det 330 at Operation Stick-It. Every year here at the University of Maryland, American flags are placed in the ground on Mckelndin Mall to remember those who fell victim to the attacks on 9/11.
