In the last year, Lonetta Thompson appeared onstage in Riff Raff (Tony the Tiger), Sordid Lives (Dr. Eve Bolinger), Much Ado About Nothing (Dogberry), and NiA's Good Mornings: Too Much Noise and Who's in My House? She directed The NiA Company's production of Pass Over as well. And she was also the winner of the 2023 The Jasper Project's Play Right series for a little show called Therapy. Whew!

Trustus Theatre's upcoming original musical has dreams beyond Columbia "Dandelion" will premiere at Trustus on Aug. 9 in Columbia. The original mother-daughter musical was originally created for NYC stages, but COVID led it to SC.

Rounding out Jane's family and friends in DANDELION is a group of talented actors from Columbia and beyond!
Stann Gwynn will play Daniel, Jane's father. Stann was previously seen on the Trustus stage as Orin Scrivello, D.D.S. in last summer's LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and the staged reading of DANDELION earlier this year.
Mel Driggers joins the cast as Jane's best friend, Gabbie. A student at USC, Mel was last seen as Tobias in last October's production of SWEENEY TODD.
Sadie Wiskes makes her Trustus Theatre debut as Young Jane. Sadie joined us for the reading of DANDELION in January and previously worked with director Jessica Fichter on MARGARITAVILLE over at Workshop Theatre of South Carolina.
Jordan, Jane's older brother in the musical, will be played by Sean Stephens, who headlined the Off-Broadway productions of CAMP MORNING WOOD at Playwrights Horizon and Asylum Theatre, and was previously seen at Trustus in RENT, HAIR, and SOUTHERN BAPTIST SISSIES.

DANDELION previously received its concert premiere in 2019 as part of the New Musicals concert series at 54 Below, followed by an Equity reading with Thousand Faced Theatre Company in the winter of 2020. After a multi-year hiatus brought on by the pandemic, development of the musical was revived at the beginning of this year with a staged presentation at Trustus. We're proud to bring the fully-staged workshop premiere to the Thigpen Mainstage. to "Lullaby" at 54 Below, led by DANDELION's composer and lyricist Colleen Francis.

For pivotal supporting roles in DANDELION, Trustus will lean on more of its veteran Company members. Dandelion will feature Brittany Hammock as Paranoia, Kristin Claiborne as Depression, and Terrance Henderson, who is also set to choreograph the show, as Rage. Brittany and Terrance were last seen onstage in last summer's LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, while Kristin was just seen as Mrs. Greene in THE PROM.

Hannah Bonnett will lead the cast of the musical as Jane. Bonnett will assume the role after having just closed a star-turn Off-Broadway as Ivanka Trump in Five: The Parody Musical, and previously leading the National Tour of Legally Blonde as Elle Woods.

Katrina Garvin, a Trustus Theatre Company member whom The Jasper Project crowned “the first lady of Columbia theatre”, and who most-recently starred as Angel in the Trustus production of Blues for an Alabama Sky this past March, will take on the part of Lilah.
