👋 Meet the Benjamin family! Their daughter Delaney is an arts and crafts lover, swimmer, dancer and avid friend maker. However, at the of age 4, was diagnosed with epilepsy, anxiety, and selective mutation.

Delaney has been through a lot but loves spending time outdoors and traveling with family. Because of your donations to A Kid Again, the Benjamins were able to travel to a Colorado Rockies game and enjoy a beautiful day outside watching ⚾️ as a family 🩵

07/05/2024

Attending the Colorado Rockies game was the epitome of giving Zander a few hours to be A Kid Again.

Zander loves baseball as it's one of the things he can do even when he's having a rough day of functioning. Four hours before this picture was taken, Zander, went in for a "routine follow up" only to be told his lungs have decreased function, he's not safe drinking and that he's one of the rare people who's adenoids have grown back after an adenoidectomy, which now meant he had a list of more tests and appointments.

Instead of being your typical surly 15 year old, he made sure to tell everybody he saw, doctor, nurses, respiratory therapists, radiologist... that he was on the way to his Rockies game after they were done.

"Adventures like this help keep kids like Zander going, giving them something to look forward to, even when everything is crashing, he knew he had a couple hours to just leave it all behind and think about something else" - Zanders mom 🩵

One of our favorite things to see are the connections our families are able to make with each other at our Adventures and for Heather and her two sons, this rang true.

Heather and her two boys attended A Kid Again - Southwest Ohio Chapter's River Boat Adventure for a day of relaxation and connecting which her boys put into practice. Her sons were able to share the experience with two of their friends who they met through A Kid Again.

"One added plus of being part of this amazing group is the FRIENDSHIPS my two boys have made, these four boys have been friends now for over a year all thanks to A Kid Again. Getting to see their friends on adventures makes the time even more special". - Heather 💚

Meet Ezra 👋

Ezra has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy and is deaf-blind, tube-fed and non-mobile, but this doesn't stop him or his family from enjoying life to the fullest!

We recently caught up with Becky, Ezra's mom, at our A Kid Again - Michigan Chapters United Shore Professional Baseball League Adventure. She had this to say about her families experience with A Kid Again "I love how all-inclusive they are. That it is for the whole family, not just Ezra. So all of his siblings get to come along. I love that it's so welcoming, that they seem excited to have you there. Not just “okay with you being there”, but you are the star of the show".

Ezra and his family are on their third year being enrolled and we hope to keep providing experiences like this not only for Ezra's family but all our families and with your help, we can do that. Your gift ensures families like Ezra's get the chance to be A Kid Again. Give today: https://akidagain.org/bta/

What a special day for our families! Over 700 family members spent the day making memories at Kings Dominion where they experienced a day of endless thrills as they rode coasters, soaked up the sun in Soak City, and gathered to enjoy lunch!

For one of our incredible families, this day was extra special. A year prior, Brie was recovering from an open-heart procedure, but this year she spent the day riding coasters with her family!

Special thanks to Kings Dominion for this amazing day for all our A Kid Again Families.

In honor of Cancer Survivors Month, we’d like to introduce you to Marley, who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma - a solid tumor cancer normally found in children between the ages of 1 - 2 years old.

It took 7 rounds of chemo, radiation, immunotherapy, and surgery but the end result was well worth it - Marley being deemed cancer free! Though the journey was difficult, Marley’s family was able to stay together throughout all her treatments, doctors visits and hospital stays.

Thanks to Marley’s resiliency and her families support, Marleys family has been able to take part in multiple Adventures since joining A Kid Again. Their favorite being the Halloween Fashion Show with the where meeting Marley inspired Jacoby Brissett (the then Colts Quarterback) to sponsor A Kid Again for that year.

We want to ensure that more children and families like Marley’s are able to share those amazing experiences. A gift of any amount can help create those core memories for families. Give the Gift of Adventure today! https://akidagain.org/bta/

Memorial Day brought out over 650 families from A Kid Again - Michigan Chapter for a day full of ⚾️ and fun with the United Shore Professional Baseball League this past Saturday!

Our families enjoyed a double-header along with participating in holding the flag for the National Anthem and chatting with the players while they warmed up.

Even Utica Michigan Mayor, Gus Calandrino showed up and spent time visiting with our families! 😁

We love being able to provide these experiences to our families and want to thank Lady Jane's Haircuts for Men, Delta Dental of Michigan, Starbucks, LMCU and Applied Innovation for their support!

"After finding out I would be joining for his class field trip, Eddie grabbed his markers and created a sign to share with fellow classmates. He wanted to share with everyone who would be in our group what I do for a living. From the mind of a 6-year-old, he said “mom, you help kids by giving them trips." - Ann Fixari

For nearly 30 years, A Kid Again has been providing on-going events called Adventures to help children & their families forget medical appointments, hospital stays, and just be a kid. 🩵

Accessibility is inclusion!

Accessibility isn't always offered in places for those that need it which is why we pride ourselves in ensuring that the 16,000+ medically complex children we serve are able to fully enjoy themselves at our Adventures.

This Global Accessibility Awareness Day we are vowing to keep providing a safe space for those who need it most 🩵

We do our best to provide the best experience possible for all the families that attend our Adventures. For Liams family, that means taking the time to create memories that will last a lifetime.

"This program has taught us all compassion and we now try to live life to the fullest and not use Liam’s disease as an excuse and to take life for granted. Daily treatments can be tiresome but AKA gives us opportunities to look forward to." - Liams Guardian

This is the kind of impact you have on a family when you give the gift of Adventure. Learn more on how you can support A Kid Again families by clicking the link in our bio! 💚

Two things that are synonymous, spring and ⚾️!

Our DMV families had a blast attending the Washington Nationals baseball game where they were greeted with free tickets and great 💺!

The weather could've been a little better but that's part of the experience! Right?!😬

Photos from A Kid Again's post 04/10/2024

Adventures bring families together and warmer weather means more Adventures and more opportunities to create lasting memories!

Siblings play a special role in a family's medical journey. They are often by their brother or sister's side during doctor's visits and hospital stays and are the greatest cheerleaders and unsung heroes!

Sending good vibes this to all our A Kid Again kids!

We loved seeing Elle Waid recognized as the Fan of the Game, for all the amazing work she has done on behalf of the Michigan Youth Committee!

Elle was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was just 11 months old. She has been a vocal advocate for those with epilepsy, even traveling to Washington DC to raise awareness. She also created a youth track in the Wellness and Epilepsy Conference with the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan.

Elle's youth committee work is commendable. She organized an A Kid Again drive-in movie fundraiser and supported the Everybody Shines fundraiser with Kendra Scott.

We are proud to have been a part of this recognition ceremony and extend a special thanks to the Detroit Pistonsfor acknowledging Elle's incredible efforts at our recent Adventure!💚🩵
