hosted a Tradeswomen Meet-Up on May 5th to discuss future goals for our group, ourselves and Tradeswomen altogether. We greatly appreciate the support and encouragement from Chicago Women in Trades (CWIT) in making this event complete. Many thanks to Plumbers & Pipefitters LU 189 for the donation of their hall. We hope everybody had fun, made connections and received insight that day. We know we did! Looking forward to seeing you all again (and hopefully meeting new faces) at future events!

If you'd like us to add any of your own photos, feel free to drop them in the comments. Don't forget to reach out if you are interested in helping with future talks, meet-ups and other events. Thank you all for your support!

Last week, SkillsUSA Ohio hosted their annual competition of skilled trades and more at the Convention Center. Many tradespeople were there volunteering their time as judges, helpers and more. Mary Nutter with Plumbers & Pipefitters LU 189 arranged an all woman team of judges for the plumbing contest. We just wanted to showcase such a unique moment!

Seats are selling quickly!

This workshop focuses on plumbing in the home: how to maintain your house and how to expand on what you already have.

www.columbusgardenschool.com/service-page/plumbing-workshop-for-women-1

This hands-on workshop has a strong emphasis on safety and will cover:

- Building an understanding of how your plumbing system works

- Learning techniques such as using Sharkbites to repair your copper pipes

- Understanding the importance of correct ventilation

- Taking apart a toilet tank and different types of faucets to build a better foundation for troubleshooting

Each workshop begins with an introduction to the appropriate tools, and you'll go home with plenty of resources to help further your understanding! The goal of this workshop is to build a comfort level with the systems in your own home and to help you make informed decisions when talking with a contractor. All skill levels are encouraged.
