The Fifth by Northwest Area Commission

Here is a map of Blueprint Columbus construction impacts for the week of September 16th:

Basin work will occur on W 6th Ave and Broadview Ave, while waterline lowering will take place on Northwest Blvd and Thornwood Place. Excavation and basin work will happen on W 7th Ave east of Grandview Ave, and sidewalk replacement will occur on Wyandotte Ave, Ashland Ave, and Elmwood Ave.

🚨APPLICATION CLOSES MONDAY, AUGUST 26🚨

I encourage every small business and organization with public restrooms to apply for a free changing station, and to make sure these stations are in all restrooms because changing diapers is not just for moms to worry about; it’s both parents’ job.

Applicants must be located in the City of Columbus and have a public-facing restroom to be eligible. The changing stations can be installed in men’s, women’s, gender-neutral, and family restrooms. The application period will close on Monday, August 26th.

The Fifth by Northwest Area Commission is seeking candidates to fill one vacant seat. To be eligible to serve on the Commission, one must live, work, or own property within the boundaries of the neighborhood (please see map associated with this post).

Commission meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm. The next commission meeting is Tuesday, September 3rd at 7pm at Cityview Church, located at 1150 W 5th Ave.

The tree giveaways are driven by Green Columbus' mission to improve tree canopy equity in the city. As one of the fastest growing urban heat islands in the country, Columbus' temperatures can vary by up to 13℉ in different areas on the same day. The tree giveaways are one way to lower the cost barrier to planting trees and increase tree canopy in communities that are impacted the most by the heat.
