NEW to the FOF gym is our Functional Training Room. Designed to focus on body weight, free weight, and resistance band training. A key feature will be the ceiling mounted suspension straps that incorporate core activation in standard body weight exercises. Please see a staff member if you are curious on how to use any of the equipment. Sample exercises are posted on the wall, but it is always a good idea to have a coach demonstrate if it is something you are unfamiliar with!
Congratulations to Rock Steady Boxing Featured Fighter Carol!
Good work on staying consistent with the classes and working hard to accomplish your fitness goals. Carol's smile always brings a bright light into the gym!

The September/October issue of Willamette Living Magazine is out and Fitness Over 50 members will recognize a couple familiar faces in this fall’s edition. FOF General Manager Nate Haines has a brief article (page 13) on health and wellness as we age, and why it is important to evaluate what is important to us when setting our health goals. Local artist and FOF member Carol Chapel is a featured artist on page 32. With the Olympics being half way completed, remember to keep coming in and working hard toward your own FOF Olympic goals!
In line with this summer’s event in Tokyo, FOF will also be conducting its own “Olympic” event. From July 23rd - August 13th members can sign up to participate in various challenges and health and wellness related activities. Members will be able to “compete” individually or as a team of 2 in the following challenges over the 3 week period:
- Total days attended
- Classes attended
- Cardiovascular exercise minutes
- Distance traveled
- Consecutive days attended
Prizes will be given out at the “Closing Ceremonies BBQ” on Saturday, August 14th. This will also mark the return of our annual potluck style BBQ event. You do not have to participate in the Olympic event to attend the BBQ. FOF will provide a few main dish options and members will be able to sign up to bring sides, desserts, beverages, etc. Look for a sign-up sheet as the date approaches!
