AWARDS! Two (2) Best Paper Awards will be offered at IIFET 2024 Penang! See the conference and IIFET websites for details.
Paper submission for both awards is from 24 January to 1 March 2024. Please carefully read the eligibility requirements and the formatting guidelines for both awards prior to submission.

IIFET Best Student Paper Award – This prize, sponsored by NOAA, is for the Best Paper on any topic related to the economics of fisheries or aquaculture by a student.
1. Be a student. “Student” is defined as currently enrolled in a graduate program, or having graduated no more than 1 year prior to the submission deadline (1 March 2023).
2. Submit a paper meeting the guidelines, on any economic topic of relevance to the conference themes.
3. Be the primary author of the paper.
4. Have an abstract accepted for ORAL presentation at IIFET 2024 Penang. You should be in possession of an email indicating the acceptance of your abstract.
*Only eligible students can submit a paper for consideration for the two best paper awards, provided that they meet the eligibility requirements for the Best Student Paper Award AND the JIFRS-Yamamoto Award.

JIFRS-Yamamoto Prize for Best Paper on Responsible Fishing – This prize is awarded to the Best Paper promoting responsible fishing by an author from a low/middle/upper income country.
1. Be a citizen of a low/middle/upper income country, as defined by the World Bank.
2. Submit a useful paper meeting the guidelines, encouraging the rational development of responsible fisheries in your own country.
3. Be the primary author of the paper.
4. Have an abstract accepted for ORAL or POSTER presentation at IIFET 2024 Penang. You should be in possession of an email indicating the acceptance of your abstract.

The IIFET Distinguished Service Award seeks nominations for individuals who have made significant contributions to international fisheries and aquaculture. Since 1994, this award has recognized those who have fostered collaboration between academia, industry and government on seafood policy and international trade.

To nominate, please email [email protected] by January 15, 2024. Submissions may include up to five pages of supporting materials, such as a CV or awards.

The selected winner will receive a commemorative plaque and the opportunity to present at the IIFET 2024 Penang Biennial Conference. The announcement will be made in early March 2024.
