From a single chapter in Los Angeles, we quickly expanded and took our first bold step beyond state lines in 1977 with Salt Lake City, Utah. Since then, our sisterhood has blossomed into an impressive network spanning coast to coast. Today, we continue to grow, serve, and make a lasting impact together, united in our mission with over 300 chapters!
Did you know we held our very first NCL Convention in the 1960s? This inaugural gathering marked the beginning of a tradition that has only grown stronger over the years. As we look back on this milestone, we eagerly anticipate coming together once again in April 2025 for our Centennial Celebration - 100 years of empowering mothers and daughters. ๐๏ธ In the 1940s, National Charity League made history as the nation's first mother-daughter charity! The incredible women of that era expanded the organization's mission to include educational and cultural activities, organizing groups by grade level from 7th to 12th grade - just as we continue to do today!
Step back in time to when "Tea for Two" was the song of the day and cloche hats with white gloves were the height of fashion. It was then that a visionary group of women in Los Angeles, led by Gladys Bernice Wilkinson, founded The Charity League. They partnered with the American Red Cross, crafting layettes and delivering food baskets to those in need during the holidays. Today, we proudly continue their legacy of service and volunteerism, inspired by their compassion and commitment. ๐
