Today is National Puppy Day and this is Scooby - a 10 month old Maltipoo. What is his connection to Assistance League of Newport-Mesa? Well the connection is FRIENDSHIP. In my 4 years of volunteering at Assistance League - it has been incredibly fulfilling to serve the children and families in our community. But what I could never have predicted were the beautiful new friendships with fellow member volunteers that are equally fulfilling in my life. Three weeks ago, one of those member friends texted this picture of this sweet pup in need of a new home and the rest is history.

Just days ago, Assistance League of Newport-Mesa received word of 16 middle school students needing warm coats and blankets. In fact, their families are facing housing insecurity and living in their cars. Going to school by day and sleeping in their cars by night. Our volunteers got to work gathering coats, blankets and anything else we had to HELP. We are proud to be part of a community safety net for children and families. This recent story of our commitment to supporting families is just one of very many. Please support the work of Assistance League of Newport-Mesa during this Season of Giving.
Assistance League of Newport-Mesa is grateful for our tireless volunteers, our amazing community partners, our generous donors, and our wonderful shop customers. To the children and families in our community who need our support, it is our mission to transform lives and strengthen community. We are always here for you - to help and to serve.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Our Story
In 1940, a group of twelve women formed the Harbor Branch of the Assistance League to benefit under-served children and families. The league, now called Assistance League of Newport-Mesa, has over 300 members, including an auxiliary of over 100 teens. With the exception of only a few employees, volunteers run the entire organization. If you are new to the area or looking for a fun atmosphere to make a difference, inquire about membership.
