Todays blog: Death by a Broken Heart?

“Grief only exists where love lived first.” – Franchesca Cox

You can die from a broken heart. The shock, pain, stress, and suffering that can come with a broken heart, can cause a deadly heart attack.

Creating a moat of solitude, that prevents you from loving someone so deeply that their loss could cause damage, is not the solution. Loneliness can also be deadly, although it is a slower pernicious death.

Being human can be a messy and painful experience. It is easy overlook how meaningful healthy relationships, and love, can be for one's heart and mental health.

May we all have people we love so deeply that their loss devastates us, while having a loving support system to help us survive heart break.

May we also have a strong enough heart to sustain us through the stress, and grief of a broken heart.

Exercise your heart by loving deeply every day.

Optimal serum ferritin level range: iron status measure and inflammatory biomarker - PubMed 12/30/2023

Ferritin over 100 is associated with increased mortality from COVID. I discuss this and much more in my recent book, The Iron Curse. Here is one of 632 references that I cite. Labs allow you to go much higher before being flagged, and doctors often ignore or overlook high ferritin that is lab high. Learn more at ironcurse.com

Optimal serum ferritin level range: iron status measure and inflammatory biomarker - PubMed This report provides perspectives concerning dual roles of serum ferritin as a measure of both iron status and inflammation. We suggest benefits of a lower range of serum ferritin as has occurred for total serum cholesterol and fasting blood glucose levels. Observations during a prospective randomiz...

The Irish Potato Famine: Part of why Irish descendants have such a high risk for elevated iron... The iron curse was the iron shield under different circumstances. Those circumstances were when living to be forty years old was considered elderly; when humans had to hunt or scavenge for meals; and iron was not available in nutritional supplements or added to processed “foods.” The iron curse is the double edge sword of iron and the hemochromatosis gene.

The hemochromatosis gene likely originated 2,000-4,000 years ago in a Celtic or Viking ancestor. Those with the hemochromatosis gene survived in a low iron environment, while those without the gene were more likely to die from iron-deficient anemia.

Genes that decrease your chance of surviving tend to be eliminated. Historically, pregnancy, childbirth, injuries, and famine have been four of the most powerful evolutionary pressures on humans, and iron is at the epicenter of them all.

Iron was essential currency for survival because it was necessary for having energy to hunt, scavenge, and harvest. In times of famine, iron was scarce and low iron could become deadly.

The Great Irish Potato Famine of 1847-1849 is an example that gave people with a hemochromatosis gene an evolutionary advantage. During this famine, the hemochromatosis gene protected those fortunate enough to inherit the gene, an advantage that is stamped upon the genome of the Irish people. Many Irish descendants of today are suffering the consequences of the famine; their atonement is the hemochromatosis gene feeding today’s epidemic of undiagnosed high iron. The pendulum has swung the opposite direction. What once protected from iron-deficient death, now causes iron-induced death. Now over 60% of the Irish population has one or more hemochromatosis genes. The Iron Curse is also The Irish Curse.

Evolution provided a protective solution to the pernicious deaths caused by low iron, and that solution was the hemochromatosis gene. It didn’t care that as one ages the hemochromatosis gene’s ability to increase iron absorption could cause dangerously high iron, destroying the person it once saved. Evolution provided a solution to protect men, women, and children through childbearing years and promised nothing after that.

The hemochromatosis gene has allowed humans to survive through the toughest of times. It is a gene of ancient warriors that were built to thrive in a dangerously low iron environment. The modern ancestors of these ancient warriors must adapt to the changing environment. Modern humans live in an environment where iron excess is prolific, which has turned their evolutionary advantage into a genetic Achilles heel. The iron curse will live on as long as they live in the darkness of ignorance.

This is a short excerpt from my book The Iron Curse, which can be found at ironcurse.com

If you want to learn more the hemochromatosis genes, how to get tested, what labs you need to know and have, and how to modulate iron levels, then read The Iron Curse and take the Workshop. Use Coupon code LASTCHANCE for 50% off all workshops today.
