The IIDA Austin City Center Zero Landfill 2023 was a huge success! Here is a recap of all things Zero Landfill:

All in effort to divert materials from landfills and upcycle in an eco-friendly way, we collected donations of building materials from A&D (Architecture and Design) Firms and up-cycled to our local community!
This was a weeklong event, where we took in materials Monday-Thursday, and then ended with a Community Shop event for local teachers, artists, students, crafters, etc. to come and take whatever they like at NO cost!

Total weight of materials taken in: over 7800 pounds!

Glass- 336 lbs 9oz
Laminate- 147lbs 1oz
Plastic- 47lbs 10oz
Recyclable paper- 11lbs
Tile- 3,790 lbs 3 oz
Vinyl/rubber- 542lbs 11oz
Wood- 476lbs 9oz
Wall coverings- 98lbs 4oz
Metal- 201 lbs
Brick/stone- 263lbs 3oz

♻️Zero landfill starts next week!♻️

Have a bunch of unused samples laying around the office? Well our Zero Landfill event is the perfect opportunity to not only get them off your hands, but to recycle the materials and give them a new life! We save thousands of materials from ending up in the landfill by donating them to artisans, school teachers, students and more.

This one-hour program enables participants to gain an understanding of the use of different living walls systems both indoors and out, and in various climates. Attendees will discover the design considerations and positive effects of living walls on the built environment; and, explore case studies of a variety of living walls systems and their performance after installation, evidence based research citations, and compelling photography and time-lapse videos.

We are super excited to share that Austin City Center will be hosting our first ever Swag Sale! Join us for our Designer Donated thrifting experience Saturday, February 18th from 9-noon at Scandinavian Spaces. Our goal is to encourage designers to redesign their own style in the coming new year with a fresh look from apparel designed by one another. We are accepting clothing, shoes, handbags/purses, sunglasses/hats or anything designer. We’ll also have a few prints by Emily Eisenhart (local Austin muralist) to be won through raffle.

And since it is a Saturday morning, we couldn’t forget a breakfast bar with mimosas, as well as coloring books to encourage designers with children to join us.

All proceeds will go towards our Revolution Redesign which will be held early summertime.
