Thank you to everyone who donated time, money and stayed in prayer for our brother FPO C. Briggs. He is back to work and we are so grateful.

Back in July, Fire Prevention Officer Clarence Briggs suffered an on-duty stroke and yesterday, he received full clearance to come back to work in what some say is a miracle! His @dallasfirerescue coworkers surprised him on his day back with a Welcome Back Party. His family thanked his partner, Gisell Delgado, for her quick thinking and taking him to the hospital asap. According to the @cdcgov , almost 800k people have a stroke every year. Symptoms include: sudden numbness or weakness on one side of the body, severe headache, confusion, trouble walking and trouble seeing in one or both eyes. Know the symptoms! Every shift, 8 firefighters including myself bring $20 to work every 3rd day at Dallas Fire Station 8. We work 24 hours with 48 hours off. We pool that money together to buy breakfast, lunch, and dinner and hopefully have enough left over for coffee ☕️ . We end up buying the cheapest stuff around (it rhymes with Smoldgers).

We also appreciate when businesses and families would come by and ask how they could help make our lives easier. We didn't always have a good answer because First Responders are the last people to think they are in need.

Thats why Kyle and I came up with Caffeinate-A-Station because we saw a need to connect businesses with their local heroes by providing their coffee. Businesses want to thank their First Responders. First Responders appreciate having their coffee paid for, especially when it's premium and from a Firefighter / Veteran owned roaster. After all, it's one of the things that connects us all - caffeine!

This year the Dallas Hispanic Firefighters Association teamed up with The Children's Health Foundation during Hispanic Heritage month and Fire Prevention Week to help spread the word about this years topic: cooking safety. Sparky volunteered to help us spread the word to some of the youngest members of our community!

We also held a Toy Drive within our department to help raise toys to be distributed by Children’s Hospital to kids in and around the hospital and delivered them on our 1941 Chevrolet pumper.

We want to thank everyone who helped us collect toys and who came out to help during fire prevention week. We especially want to thank Captain Sifuentes and Station 1, A Shift and Captain Padilla, Lt. Wilson and FPO Andrew DeLeon from Inspections for the donations and for showing up to help us deliver all the toys!

Many times the interaction our members have with children are short and in emergency situations on their worst day. We are honored to have had this opportunity to put a smile on their face and look forward to working with Children’s Health again in the future!

A little late to post but could not go another day without shouting out your very own DHFA executive board member who destroyed the competition at the Guns and Hoses bout last month. Isaiah serves on the board as secretary and puts in hard work for our members. Strong work representing our department and association!
