We’re happy to share that we’ve received a grant in the amount of $30,000 to support our Recovery Support Services (RSS) program which provides education, employment, and supportive housing assistance to Nexus clients transitioning out of residential services. These funds will assist in removing barriers and build bridges to long-term recovery. Thank you!

Though everyone can experience mental illness, not every person from every walk of life or background is going to have the same access to treatment they need to properly deal with their mental health. But there is hope. In 2008, the month of July was established as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month. Below are some tips for better outcomes from the National Alliance on Mental Illness NAMI, who Campbell co-founded.

Last Friday, our Recovery Support Service team celebrated Pride Month with a colorful event featuring several community partners including North Texas Food Bank, Abounding Prosperity, Inc., Prism Health North Texas, Simply Grace, Foundation45 and Oxford House. Partygoers enjoyed a tasty pancake dessert bar with rainbow toppings, rainbow Kool-Aid soaked pickles, swag bags, face painting, music, and more! 🏳️🌈 Thank you to everyone who showed up to support peace, love, and pride!

Celebrating emancipation and unity today on Juneteenth, our Nexus team gathered together for a delicious lunch from Blue Flames BBQ & Catering. Juneteenth is the nation's oldest celebrated day marking the end of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, Juneteenth honors June 19th when Union soldiers, under Major General Gordon Granger, arrived in Galveston, Texas to announce the end of the Civil War and the freedom of enslaved individuals. To celebrate Father's Day, this past week Nexus appreciated our dad's who pick up their kiddos each day from our Child Development Center. Among the daily treats were tasty donuts, coffee, and dad jokes! Thank you to the dads who show their support so our current clients and alumni can rely on quality care while focusing on their recovery journey.
Vicki Russell was a committed and longtime supporter of the Auxiliary of Nexus from being a Committee Chairperson, Advisory Board member, a Membership officer, and serving on the Auxiliary of Nexus Board of Directors.
