We're a street dog rescue in the Dallas area with a mission to reduce the street dog population. We are based in the Dallas, TX area. Semper Woof!

Duck Team 6 is a group of friends who have experience rescuing dogs from the streets. We decided to work together as a team in hopes of being able to save more dogs. We do what we can, but please know we cannot take in dogs that we capture. DT6 is not a "rescue group" that fosters, boards, or shelters dogs. However, we are a "capture team" that helps with the capture of elusive dogs and then works

‼️FOSTER AND RESCUE NEEDED‼️

We were contacted by a Good Samaritan who is concerned about a boxer/mastiff that is currently living in a pasture in the DFW area. He won’t allow her to get close, but he has not shown any aggression.

Everyone comments on our posts telling us to “just go get the dog” but without a place to go, we have no choice but to leave him on the street. The Good Samaritan is providing him with food and water.

We have named him Wheeler and we are hoping you can help us find somewhere for him to land.

Please email [email protected] if you can help.

***LOOK WHO GOT CAUGHT***

We received a capture request for this little girl who was running around in a neighborhood making friends with the local cat colony and terrorizing the squirrels.

Her Good Samaritans had previously caught her in a raccoon trap, so we weren’t entirely sure we would get her. After confirming that there was a rescue backing, our volunteers packed up one of our five foot traps (which seems like over kill now given her size) and waited for about three hours in the early morning before she showed up. She trusted her Good Samaritan to have her favorite lunch meat on hand and only after throwing some in the trap with Vienna sausages, did she finally go in!

We are calling her Little Lana, in honor of our dear friend who loved the littles.

Her Good Samaritans are fostering her and hope to adopt her. Here’s to a happy life, Little Lana! We hope you get all of your favorite salami as a treat. ❤️

With the blessing of her family, it is with heavy hearts that Duck Team 6 announces the passing of one of our beloved volunteers and friend, Lana Varian Bass.

During her time with us, she served as a core member of our Capture team and was also a board member.

If you knew Lana, you knew she was an unstoppable force. She had the biggest heart and always did what she could to not only help dogs, but people as well. There are not enough words to express our gratitude and appreciation for everything she did when she was part of our team.

She lives on through her Husband, family, beloved dogs and the volunteers she mentored. We will never forget her incredible heart.

Rest easy, Lana. We got it from here ❤️

🌟UPDATE: FOSTER AND RESCUE FOUND

‼️SOS‼️ RESCUE AND FOSTER NEEDED‼️

This poor cattle dog is running around just outside of city limits in the country with what looks to be an acid burn on its back. The Good Samaritan that is feeding believes the dog is female and she is fearful of people.

We will donate $450 to any rescue able to take her in.

WE MUST HAVE A FOSTER AND REPUTABLE RESCUE IN PLACE BEFORE WE CAN CAPTURE.

Please email [email protected] if you can help.

***LOOK WHO GOT CAUGHT***

We posted this sweet old boy, Brownie, six days ago and he has officially been captured!

Turns out Brownie has been on the streets a lot longer than anticipated… NINE years. This poor boy was so desperate for love and his Good Samaritan became his hero. He would follow her when she would walk her dogs and would sit with her in her drive way, where they kept each other company.

When we arrived, Brownie was already waiting for dinner. We had to set up quickly in order not to scare him away and the Good Samaritan kept him hanging around with some Vienna sausages. He trusted his Good Samaritan so deeply, she was able to walk him right into the trap! He even started wagging his tail when she brought out his doggy friend. With a tearful goodbye, we packed Brownie up and transported him to his foster home.

Brownie, now Burt, is with a partner rescue and we cannot wait for him to spend his golden years receiving all the love he deserved those past nine years.

We couldn’t have done it without a foster and rescue stepping up as quickly as they did and we are so grateful to them for taking in this sweet guy.

When people say that a street dog can’t be a loving companion, please think of all the gentle souls like Burt. He may have drawn the short end of the stick, but he never lost his loving nature.

Here’s to a happy life, Burt!

***LOOK WHO GOT CAUGHT***

Remember a few weeks ago we posted about Dean, the German Shepherd with the cone on his head? Well, this clever boy managed to get it off and decided he was ready for capture!

Of course, no grand adventure is without its challenges. Fireworks sent Dean into hiding for a few days, and some opportunistic strays would occasionally eat some of his food. But true to his determined spirit, Dean always found his way back to his favorite feeding station.

Thanks to the unwavering dedication of a good samaritan, Linda, he never had to worry about where his next meal was coming from. Linda ensured Dean had a reliable breakfast and dinner spot.

After keeping our volunteers on their toes (and awake until the wee hours of 1:45 AM), Dean finally decided it was time to begin a more comfortable life. The aroma of a delicious dinner proved too tempting to resist, and Dean waltzed right into the trap, making the capture as smooth as butter!

Post-capture, our big boy Dean showed us his personality. No fuss - just a calm demeanor and a well-deserved snooze that lasted well into the next day.

We're thrilled to report that Dean is now living his best life at his foster home, settling in and surely dreaming of his next big adventure - this time from the comfort of a cozy bed. His loving foster, Bill has renamed Dean to Roger, in honor of his friend that has recently passed.

A big round of applause for Linda, our tireless volunteers, Bill, and the rescue backing him for playing a part in bringing Dean to a safe home. It takes a village to rescue a pup, but the wagging tails and happy endings make it all worthwhile!

***We would also like to take a moment to give a massive shout out to one of our newest volunteers, Monica, who took lead on this case and worked tirelessly with Linda to make sure Dean was well-fed and being conditioned to the trap correctly. Without their efforts, this would not have been possible.***

FREE SPAY AND NEUTER FOR 23 DALLAS ZIP CODES! Is yours on the list? Click the link to schedule your appointment!

Residents living in 23 Dallas ZIP Codes will receive a FREE spay or neuter, 3-day pain combo, microchip, and rabies vaccine for their dog at any TCAP location.

Make an appointment with Texas Coalition for Animal Protection by calling 940-566-5551 or online here: https://texasforthem.org/services/specials/free-dallas-special/

These zip codes are where the majority of our intake comes from. We have enough puppies that can't find homes and no, there is no medical or behavioral reason for a dog to have a litter of puppies ever.

Fixing your pet isn't just good for helping us in our battle against pet overpopulation in Dallas. It's also MANDATORY for pet owners living in Dallas to have their dogs and cats spayed or neutered. Make your appointment NOW and keep your proof of appointment handy - if your pet is not fixed you could be subject to fines and citations. But if you have your appointment scheduled, we're cool!

Note: There is a longer wait list for large female dogs (their surgeries take the most time) so please expect a later appointment date.

If your zip code is not listed, you can still receive low-cost spay/neuter service through TCAP or Spay Neuter Network by appointment.
...................................

UPDATE: RESCUE AND FOSTER FOUND

***FOSTER AND RESCUE NEEDED***

Can you help poor Brownie? He is a senior gentleman whose owner kicked him out on the street some time ago. When we advised the wonderful Good Samaritan taking care of him to report his abandonment to 311 and the police, we were informed that the owner has passed away.

The Good Samaritan has three dogs of her own, otherwise she would take him in a heartbeat. She says Brownie is so very sweet and even lets her grandkids love on him!

Can you be Brownie’s hero? This gentle soul does not deserve to be living on the street in his golden years.

We will include a donation to the rescue that is able to take him in.

UPDATE: FOSTER AND RESCUE FOUND

***FOSTER AND RESCUE NEEDED***

The requests keep pouring in for dog captures and we can’t seem to keep up. Can you be
Chee-Wa-Wa’s hero?

Chee-Wa-Wa (as he’s called by his fantastic Good Samaritan) has been running the streets for about 8 weeks. He disappeared for a week and relocated himself 4 miles from where he was originally spotted!

He is scared of humans and if approached, runs away but shows no aggression. He is located in the DFW area.

We will scan for a microchip once he is caught and do our due diligence to reunite him with his owners.

We will donate $450 to the rescue that is able to take him.

***PLEASE EMAIL [email protected] IF YOU CAN FOSTER OR TAKE HIM INTO YOUR RESCUE***

UPDATE: FOSTER AND RESCUE FOUND

***FOSTER AND RESCUE STILL NEEDED***

Edited to add: The shelters cannot take him due to being at capacity. It is not their fault and we completely understand. If you are following multiple animal shelters, you already know everyone is over capacity. We will not capture a dog and take it to a shelter. It is our policy.

You may remember Dean from a few posts back… he was adopted from a couple out of state, he escaped the transporter and now the couple no longer wants him. Well, he is STILL needing a foster and rescue before we can attempt capture.

With the help from the Garland Animal Shelter, we were able to get his medical records. Poor Dean is Heartworm + with a possible injury to one of his back legs. He still has the cone on his neck.

We will donate $600 to the rescue that is able to take him.

***PLEASE KEEP READING***

If you are willing to foster, PLEASE EMAIL US. This page is ran by volunteers on their own time and it is difficult to keep up with the comments. We get many comments saying people want to foster, but will never fill out an application via our website.

If you are willing to foster or take Dean into your rescue, please email [email protected].

***FOSTER AND RESCUE NEEDED***

Dean was adopted from the Garland Animal Shelter by a couple in Pennsylvania. A good samaritan that was going to help transport him unfortunately lost him from her home near Lancaster. Poor Dean still has the cone on his head from his neuter!

We have been working on this case for a couple weeks now with sightings, however the family that adopted him no longer wants him. With shelters at capacity, Dean no longer has a place to call home once caught.

If you are able to help Dean by bringing him into your rescue, we will make a donation of $450.

Please email [email protected] if you are able to help.

**COURTESY POST**

You may remember the harrowing story of Mishka, the Chow Chow who eluded capture for 6 whole months and ended up giving birth to 10 puppies (8 surviving puppies) in the trees before she allowed herself to be rescued on Good Friday, this spring!

Here is an update to this saga:

Mishka has been an amazing Momma and had reared her babies who are now ready for their forever families!!!

Her amazing fosters have done a fantastic job of helping keep them all safe and giving them all the love while getting them ready for their new lives!

They are now 13 weeks old, they've had 3 rounds of vaccines and will be neutered as soon as their 🥜 drop (appt have been scheduled)

They are the sweetest, most loving, snuggly boys (YES, ALL BOYS!) who want to play and be with their people. They are getting bigger and their fosters are running out of room (they are keeping Momma and 1 puppy so they have 8 dogs, right now! *Gus has been adopted)

Marleigh's Friends Rescue needs some help getting these babies into new foster homes or even better, forever homes.

Below are the individual links to their bios and attached pictures with their names.

Their Momma is only about 30lbs so it's suspected they will be about the same, medium size

Please reach out to Marleighs Friends Rescue and schedule a meet and greet right away, before they're all scooped up!!!

Jimmy Buffet is Looking for a Foster or Forever Home! 🐾💙

Remember this handsome fella? Jimmy Buffet, our resident pocket pittie, has been working incredibly hard with his trainer to be the goodest boy. He loves going on training outings to Petsmart and Home Depot to show off his excellent manners and sweet personality.

Now, Jimmy is ready to leave board and train with a foster or adopter who will love him and commit to reinforcing his training. He can be dog-selective, but we’ll arrange introductions with his trainer to ensure a good fit if you have another dog. He has a bestie named Jess, an all-white pit mix, at the boarding facility, and they adore each other.

Jimmy loves going on walks and is eager to find his perfect family. If you're ready to foster or adopt this sweet boy and give him the loving home he deserves, please email us at [email protected].

Let's help Jimmy find his forever home!

🐾 Look at Berniece!

She has been enjoying fun outings away from boarding with one of our amazing volunteers and getting some much-needed one-on-one time. She loves to play in the yard, go for walks, and have fun with her furry friends at the boarding facility.

Berniece has been working incredibly hard in her board and train program and is now ready for a foster or forever home! ❤️

While she's made great progress, Berniece is still learning to trust men. We don't know much about her past, but sadly, it's clear that a man was abusive to her. Despite this, Berniece is full of love, and playfulness, and has so much potential to thrive in the right home.

If you're interested in fostering or adopting Berniece and giving her the perfect home she deserves, please contact us at [email protected].

Let's make Berniece's dreams of a loving home come true!

A huge “Thank you” to everyone who attended our recent capture training! We had a great turnout and hope everyone learned something new.

During the training, we discussed dog behaviors, their stress signals through body language, and safety (for not just the dog, but yourself!) and we shared our Capture Methodology.

This includes our basic capture steps, which are:
- Setting up a feeding station
- Trap conditioning
- Our process for setting up on capture day
- Transferring the dog from the trap
- Decompression period

While sharing the presentation and having an open discussion, we also brought our capture equipment to demonstrate how to set up and trigger a humane trap. We provided video clips from our game cameras to show examples of using a remote to trigger the traps as well.

If you missed the training but are interested in volunteering with our Capture Team, we have a Ride ALong Program!

You’ll be able to go on a capture with an experienced volunteer who will show you the ins and outs of capturing a street dog. This allows you to decide whether you think capture is right for you! Email [email protected] for details!

*** Look Who Got Adopted: Forest ***

Forest captured the attention of a caring neighborhood in the Forest and Audelia area of Dallas. They watched where he went, fed him, and called in Duck Team 6 to help catch him. One of the wonderful neighbors became his foster mom. Forest loved to play with toys and snuggle with his great foster mom. But Forest wasn’t the best at sharing so we looked for a forever home that did not have another dog. Lucky for Forest, his new pet parents were looking for a scruffy terrier type and found his picture online. They previously had a dog that passed away several years ago. Now was the time to get another loving companion. Forest is now living with his new forever family. He gets lots of walks, snuggles, and all the toys! Life is good!

***Look Who Got Adopted: Toby***

Toby, from street dog to Mr. Cuddles, is a lucky boy. A Good Samaritan found him wandering off I-35 in South Dallas and brought him to Duck Team 6. We found a wonderful foster family. They helped him during his neuter recovery and took great care of him until his forever family was found.

Toby is now living with his forever family – Mom, Dad, and older sister Cara, who is a 15-year-old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix. We think Toby is 100% Shih Tzu and his new parents have already sent off his DNA out of curiosity. Cara has adjusted well to having a new younger brother (after she set him straight on the rules of the house!). His new pet parents are crazy about him. He loves to play with his toys after dinner and then have lots of cuddles. Toby seems very happy with his new digs and new family!
