This month, we've been in a sermon series called, "Losing My Religion," exploring Bible characters whose faith had been challenged.

As we continue in this series, we want to offer resources to any who may have doubts, questions, or are deconstructing.

Go to northaven.org/resources for an array of links to video, articles, and books regarding topics such as progessive Christianity, giving the Bible a second chance, and more.

It's the time of the year where routines settle in, bedtimes are reintroduced, and we yearn to connect with family, friends, and our community.

Our doors are open and we welcome you in. See you at church!

Yesterday we received word of the death of Rev. Bill Holmes, Northaven pastor from 1958-1966.

Rev. Holmes and his family served Northaven at the time of the assassination of John F. Kennedy in Dallas. His prophetic words in the wake of that tragedy made national news and required that his family receive police protection due to death threats.

Long-time members of Northaven still speak fondly of his time as their pastor.

His wife Nancy and the rest of the Holmes family are in our prayers.

When God leads us to the undesirable places, how do we respond?

This past Sunday, we dove into the story of the prophet Jonah in an unusual yet creative and relatable way. (Go to Northaven.org/past-services to watch the play Jonah and God.)

And like Jonah, we're sometimes reluctant to go where God calls us. Maybe it's because we're not comfortable enough, or we don't feel like it's a safe space, or we don't see familiar faces.

Whatever the case, as the hands and feet of God, we're all called to go forth and spread God's loves, to advocate for justice and to share grace with all people everywhere.

Even if we need a little nudge from God to do so. 😉

What does it mean to love God?

As we’re created in God’s image, this means we have the imprint of God’s love on us and we have the desire to love and be loved. True, Godly love involves humility, sacrifice, vulnerability, honesty, and surrender.

Talk to us in the comments! ⬇️ What does it mean to you to love God??

"Jesus was good for more than dying"

In the lastest episode of our podcast, Hold On: Is That Really Christian?, Kim and Kendra talk about the importance of focusing on Jesus' life and not just his death.

They answer how we can see Jesus as more than a "mascot" for Christianity and actually use the example of his life and teachings in our everyday lives.

When we come to God with open hearts and open hands, God will never turn away.

Healing may not come in the way that we expect, but we can trust that healing from God will always come. It is a promise from God.

This month at Northaven, we're well into our sermon series, Words to Live By.

Also during this month, we've been taking in all of Northaven members' favorite book recommendations. We've loved hearing about the words that captivate you!

Hear are some favorites of one member. Drop your book recs in the comments below! We want to hear about it! 📖📚

When the conversion of the early church was starting, it was the stories of Jesus’ love and divine power that captured people’s hearts.

The same effect can be had today. There’s something special about sharing the stories of how God moves in our personal lives that can pierce the hardened hearts of the world around us.

Send this to two people who can relate and watch the rest of this message at Northaven.org.
