If you've followed us for any length of time you know exactly who I am and what I stand for...you also know how I operate.
If there's an animal in need that we can't help I always post with (π¨π¨π¨), all caps, URGENT, and location. I don't do baiting posts when a life is in danger and I don't ask for anything π²π² prior to getting an animal to safety if I rescue.
It's just not how I do business.
We're taking a hiatus from social media. I need a break from the abusive behavior and from those that feel they own me. I have given everything I have to babies that nobody else would help. I go without so that they live the best possible life. I don't go out or on vacation. I don't buy anything other than necessities for myself and often go without so that these kids have plenty. I work myself to the bone to ensure they're all happy and healthy. I don't have employees or volunteers. I do it because I love them more than life.
You're free to think and say what you want but remember there's humans behind these words and deeds. If you truly know us then you were certain that "Wilma" was already safe when I made that post. I apologize for ruffling feathers.
Thank you, as always, for your support π
Don't be rude or disrespectful on MY page. If you don't like the content here, there's plenty of others to choose from.
We're not one of the sanctuaries that puts a large price tag on saving a life. We don't dangle the ability to save a life in front of your face to line our pockets.
There is a huge responsibility to saving a life despite the imminent circumstances. So perhaps take the attitudes to the "rescuers" living lavish lifestyles by baiting your hearts!!!
π¨SHE'S SAFE.....and nobody asked for a damn dollar. Thanks for following π₯
π¨SHE'S SAFEπ¨
I got this screenshot from Donna Saturday evening. It was in a community group not a pig group. These people were local...super local so Donna responded to the ad. I joined the group and monitored the comments. Nothing good was being said about Wilma. She was going to lose her life one way or another π
I told Donna that we couldn't trust the timeline the owner had given. Often times people make rash decisions and give rescuers no time. Neither of us slept Saturday night thinking of this poor girl. The owner wasn't responding to comments and we were terrified we were too late π
"In Bed with Genna" Episode 3....We've achieved positioning perfection. Genna says this is the perfect position to watch TV and eat her meals....and look adorable while doing so π
Sweat-It-Out Sunday
Clover is an old school nurse that uses tried and true methods of healing β€οΈβπ©Ή Using her internal furnace she draped across me to help me sweat out the bug!
Little does she know, we're only about 15lbs difference in weight....but maybe that's the trick π
Happy Sunday friends π
"In Bed with Genna" episode 2. Yesterday, Genna decided to exercise her independence and position herself. You can see the difference in her face about her comfort level. She chose to be nearly completely upright, which is typically completely unnerving for her. She needs a particular angle to feel like she won't capsize because she knows she can't right herself if she falls.
I attempted to fix her, but this is exactly how she wanted to be, so we added wedges, and she was comfortable enough for a few hours. Had she been in her old bed, being that upright would not have been possible. Genna was even able to clean the crumbs off her bib after dinner, which she thoroughly enjoyed! Normally, I handfeed anything that falls. Genna was quite proud of herself and was praised for being such a good helper π She never stops trying to be the best version of herself π
Thank you Deanna for the TN license plate!!! This is the first of our "Worldly" decor. We're not only looking to celebrate our kids that have traveled far to be here but celebrate our supporters and where they're from!
Thank you Deanna for this kind gesture! It will be the first hung at Piggy's Paradise π° If Y'all have extra license plates laying around Deanna is collecting them to decorate her barns and show love to her supporters around the globe. Go give them a follow π
Clover has officially been kicked out of the Pink Ladies π
I've noticed Clover laying at her door as opposed to snuggled up to Sasha and Bianca for a little while now. They seem fine outside but once in their room it's a different story. I assumed it was Bianca because she's the bully of the bunch but I caught Sasha being mean to her as well. Dynamics are always changing just like in human relationships but I had hoped this one would last π
Send Clover some love as we figure out where she fits in other than with me π
When you're sick you have to pull out your pro-level snuggler! Clover is an awesome nurse π
"In Bed with Genna" Official first episode π
Working with Genna (to put it politely) is interesting π
She's opinionated, bossy and vocal. She's also very capable in her own way.
Every time Genna gets in her wheelchair, her bed gets remade in the opposite direction. She has to be flipped from side to side for health reasons. We have found our best pillow configuration but that doesn't mean we'll hit the landing when I put her back in bed.
We all know how Genna feels about being lifted and using her wheelchair, although she is so much better with her chair. When I place Genna in bed I have a target for where she should be but often she has different ideas. She gets worked up and once she's down I let her calm down and cool down before fixing our problems. Every step, every time for all the years she's been here, I talk her through it. She knows what's coming. When I think we're set I ask her if she's comfy and she'll tell me if she's good!
Once she's perfectly set then she gets tucked in. She stays pretty upright throughout the day unless she gets some really good scritches. Genna gets her night night bottle and extra lovin and wiggles her way down into bedtime position. She gets one final tuck-in to keep her perfectly warm all night.
Genna is the most adorable boss I've ever had πππ
πUPDATE ON TROOPER π
RIP Trooper πππ
Trooper had found a potential home but the lady changed her mind because of his size.....so the owner kΒ‘lled him despite people trying hard to save his life π I truly don't understand how people can do that to a faithful companion nor can I understand what vet would euthanize a healthy dog.
I'm sorry we all failed you Trooper π You had people who would have given you a comfortable place to retire π Fly high sweet boy πππ You mattered!
Our fluffy unicorn π¦ Ireland has the best hair in the house π Being a diaper baby and her loving mud makes keeping her white a full-time job π€£ Thankfully, she's a perfect angel about all her extra care π
When you have all the pillows and can get as comfy as you want during the night π
I'm going to have to reinforce the bed so I can join her because apparently her middle name is Comfy and I could use some tips π
Happy Snooze-day from Sasha and Clover...the other two-thirds of the Pink Ladies π Sasha and Bianca may have arrived as a bonded pair but Sasha and Clover hit it off pretty quickly π They love each other π Bianca and Clover get along but they're not as tight as Sasha and Clover. They have occasional spats where Clover gets booted. Bianca is definitely the alpha in the group and will let Clover know when she wants more alone time with her sister. Clover joining the group really helped Sasha and Bianca heal from their past trauma π These girls love kisses and affection π₯°
Have you ever been completely paralyzed by pure joy? I can't stop staring at her and gushing over her π Genna has not stopped smiling since she got her new bed. It's not just a place of comfort....it offers her a sense of independence while making her feel secure! Genna's old bed was comfortable but she was limited in moving too much. Now she can stretch out as much as she wants in all directions and feel confident she's safe! I didn't think there were any new ways to love this girl any more than I do....yet she continues to show me how capable she is despite her limitations π My warrior girl π
Schmonday π€€~Bianca
This beautiful princess and her siblings turned 9 months old yesterday π Although she's a quarter of their size her personality makes up for it! Autumn has been with us since she was one day old. She is my dramatic, spicy and loving baby girl π Happy 9 months Autumn and Angel Winter ππ We love you π
β€οΈβπ©ΉUpdate on Carolinaβ€οΈβπ©Ή
Baby girl needs surgery for her shoulder π Not sure at this point if it's a congenital deformity or and injury or both. Her mom will be consulting with top surgeons to choose the best route.
Unfortunately, it seems many of Winter and Autumn's siblings have structural issues. The gift of inbreeding and neglect keeps on giving π Both Winter and Autumn's moms were rescued from horrific conditions....just houses away from where Emmie was found. They were incredibly young to be having babies and most certainly had very poor care and nutrition prior to rescue. Mom Cyndi, kept all the babies and their moms and has given them the very best life! She is a 501c3 Non-profit at Piggy Palace of Pasco (on FB). You can go to their page and see Autumn and Winter's moms, Snooki and Sammie π and all the other rescued babies in their care.
Keep the good vibes going as we'll be sharing their fundraiser for surgery and updating on how she's doing.
Thank you for all your prayers yesterday π She did well with anesthesia, got her CT and bloodwork too π
This is Carolina, one of Autumn and Winter's siblings. She has a leg injury that she's been under the care of a vet for. Unfortunately, Carolina's leg isn't healing and she's at the University of Florida for a CT scan today. Cyndi Pavlica Davison , Carolina's mom, is a huge part of rescue in Florida, runs her own sanctuary, and was also one of Emmie's rescuers.
Please keep Carolina and Cyndi in your thoughts and prayers π We're praying for good news π
It's perfect π Thank you!
My last post was not meant to be accusatory or mean in anyway! Times are tough for everyone right now πͺ I'm not looking to shame anyone or guilt them into paying....just sharing our reality.
Since I made my supply list, prices have gone up exponentially and I've been removing items from my Home Depot cart that may have to wait for later. My big purchase coming up is must-haves....there's nothing fancy or extravagant being done. Basic stalls with basic walls and predator-proof pens so the kids can come and go 24/7. The roofing panels for the awnings have doubled in price so they're sitting in my save for later list. I am only able to cut so many corners and I too am doing my best.
I apologize if anyone was offended by my update but it's a reality many sanctuaries are facing π
Thank you ALL for your support π
πUpdate on our Auctionπ These amazing ladies have been working feverishly for us to get you your totals, package and ship items and orchestrate the chaos. This was a huge auction with over 180 items from many people across the US. To date, Five Hundred Dollars is outstanding due to no response to auction organizers or Winners having life get in the way.
We are so incredibly grateful for all the effort put into this monumental event for Piggy's Paradise. It is However a huge blow on top of all the lost Sponsors and Patrons this month π It hurts the kids. I, of all people, understand how tough times are!
Chris is working on a way to recoup what has been lost by either offering items to the next high bidder or starting a small auction for those items.
I am pinching our pennies. Going without while trying to get these kids to a safe and comfortable environment. Our auction participants feel this significant loss as well because they pour their hearts into helping sanctuaries survive.
Thank you all for your continued support and be on the lookout for these auction items
Thank you Kim Ratliff for this perfect painting of Queen Monkey. It's absolutely stunning and I know she would certainly approve πππ
Thank you Dawn Goodier Krohse for Genna's new princess bed! It's going to be absolutely perfect for her! She supervised the assembly and definitely approved π
Thank you Chris Coleman for this adorable piggy shirt! As a crazy pig lady, I should have all the piggy attire available but the pigs come first! I can't wait to wear a clean shirt with no holes and represent my pigren! Yes, this will be my nice "leaving the house" shirt π€£
Thank you all for your kindness and love....it means so very much to me ππ½π
Meet Stella and her dad Chuck. Chuck was one of Emmie's rescuers and has stayed in touch and cheered Emmie on since her arrival.
Stella almost lost her life last year due to negligent care and misdiagnosis from the hospital we no longer use. She went to a different hospital and was correctly diagnosed and treated. This past week Stella went downhill and is in ICU fighting for her life with her dad by her side. She is in the best possible hands but her prognosis is poor.
Chuck does so much within the pig community π₯° He rescues, transports and volunteers at a sanctuary. He even offered to drive across the state to help us with our buildout.
Whatever you believe in please put up prayers, love & light, and positive energy for gorgeous Stella π Stella and her sister, Jama are Chuck's everything!
We love you both and are praying for a speedy recovery πππ
1 Diaper baby
1 litter box baby
2 full-care babies
1 potty pad baby
2 incontinent babies &
1 able-bodied girl who is too busy in the yard to do her business π€¦ββοΈ
Plus regular sanctuary chores, building our new place and taking care of things at home. There is never a dull moment around here. Baths, sponge baths, bedding changes, litter box changes, laundry, sanitizing indoor areas.
These babies are worth all the sweat and exhaustion π₯°
π¨Bad Mom Alertπ¨
My fragile, tiny, dramatic baby hurt her hoof this weekend π’ I went in their room to do a Nighttime diaper change for Ireland and Autumn started limping and pulling up her leg. She was whining and crying which isn't out of the ordinary for her....it's a common behavior for a hand-raised piglet.
Autumn is syndactyl, partial mulefoot on all 4 hooves....meaning her toes are fused. On her front feet she has a single pad and on the rear she has partial toe pads....Definitely not normal. Her hooves are tiny in comparison to the rest of her.
If you recall, around the time of her spay, her other rear hoof came unfused with no issues or pain. She was only 4 months at the time....so it was completely out of my control. This one, however, was my fault because I let her hooves get too long. Partial mulefoot requires more maintenance as they're prone to thrush, infection because their toe crack can hold dirt and bacteria and they can require more frequent trimming.
When Autumn's toes separated it tore her pad in between the toes. Thankfully Miss Dawn (Genna's hero) quickly pointed out the issues and saved me from making an emergency vet visit (which I had already scheduled). Autumn got a pedicure, much to her dismay. They were trimmed, balanced and the jagged edges in between her toes was smoothed down. I doctored her boo boo and made her a little boot to keep her toes together as the tear heals.
I am so thankful to have people in the community to reach out to for help. I'm human and don't know everything. Hoof trims are definitely first on my to-do list when we get settled. I've always done our hooves but of course have fallen behind with this whole move drama. My trusty dremel is on it's last legs so we'll be looking into getting a Hoof Boss to make it easier to keep everyone's hooves in tip top shape!
Welp, that didn't last long.....anchors will not be installed today π
Synchronized Sunday Sunbathing ~Gabe & Remi
Genna and I would like to say a big thank you to Dawn Goodier Krohse of Have-A-Heart Hoof Care . She bought Genna this beautiful bed!!! A bed we won't have to worry about ruining....just her mattress and pillows. It will also provide her the security that she needs.
Dawn is Genna's savior! She is the one who found Genna and negotiated her surrender to us! Without Dawn, Genna would still be living in a woodshed on a concrete floor.
Have-a-Heart Hoof Care provides hoof and tusk trimming services, nutritional guidance and assists in rescue and rehoming. They truly love what they do and love helping the animals. After 3 years of Genna being here, they still check in on our warrior princess!
So if you're in Florida or Georgia and need Hoof care they're you're ladies!!!
Genna is going to be so excited for her new bed and we're so grateful π
