This year Operation Christmas Douglas County estimates 8076 children served, after discounting our registration numbers for gifts not picked up or could not be delivered. Included within this number are 106 Head Start children; 112 children who were victims of the Western Kentucky tornadoes; 125 children at Youth Villages; 26 children of the Family Treatment Court; 211 Foster children; 550 at an inner city Atlanta school; and several thousand in school lunch or WIC programs. Operation Christmas Coat provided 336 new coats for children in need. To honor Captain Herb Emory we delivered 10 Nintendo Switch game systems and games to children hand selected by Douglas County School officials. This Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. we will have a time of worship and thankfulness at our church building. You are welcome to join us and bring a friend!
We are excited to partner with Douglas County’s annual Operation Christmas again this year! Our church will be collecting toy donations and hosting a site for families to pick up their gifts on December 11, 2021.
We ask you to:
1. Bring new, unwrapped gifts for boys and girls ages 0-18.
2. Volunteer to sort these gifts before the event (dates and times TBA).
3. Volunteer on December 11 to distribute the gifts and minister to our guests.
If you know of a family in Douglas County who would like to register to receive these gifts for their children please direct them to http://theelfsquad.org/, the school system or the health department. If you have any questions, contact Sheila.
Don't forget our celebration and lunch honoring our High School Graduates tomorrow (May 23) afternoon!
