Trampled by Turtles and the Homegrown Music Festival are happy to present to you the Palomino Grant—available to musicians in the Twin Ports of Duluth, MN and Superior, WI.
The award is $5000 to be used in your battle against artistic mediocrity (recording, gear, touring—they’re all fair game). Our friends at the legendary Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls have also donated two days at their studio to the winner as a bonus.
The award winner will also be given the opening slot at the Trampled by Turtles + Houndmouth show at Bayfront Park in Duluth on July 6, 2024.
To sweeten the prize, dear Friends of the band, Cambridge Family Dental in Cambridge, MN, have donated 2K for our Palomino Grant which we will award to a second place winning artist. They were also kind enough to donate 2 years of free dental work to the Grand Prize winner of Palomino Grant.
To qualify as an individual, you must reside within twenty miles of either Duluth, MN or Superior, WI. To qualify as a band, at least half of your members must reside in that area.
Fit the bill? Complete and submit this application by May 3, 2024.
Thank you for making this little part of the world so beautiful.

Founder's Day Presentation by Starfire
Sunday April 28th, 4:00 PM at Hoops Brewing - all ages and FREE
The Homegrown Founder’s Reception is when the beer steins start swaying and the full revelry of the festival begins. It’s a slight refresh of what was in prior years known as the Homegrown Duluth Mayor’s Reception. Instead of the reading of a Mayoral Proclamation by the city’s top elected official, this year Homegrown founder Scott “Starfire” Lunt will give the toast that leads into a performance by the unhinged punk-polka band Winzige Hosen.
Photo from Father Hennepin 2023 Homegrown performance at Sacred Heart Music Center. This year you can find Father Hennepin at The West Theater on Wednesday, May 1st at 9:15 PM.

ABOUT
The Homegrown Music Festival is an annual community celebration of the original and diverse music of Duluth, Minn. and its surrounding communities. What started in 1999 with ten acts has matured in its 20th year to an eight-day community-wide local music, arts and cultural extravaganza.
HISTORY
Homegrown occurs every year on the first weekend in May. It was founded in 1999 as a two-night, one-venue event featuring 10 local acts. The festival has since expanded to eight days and includes more than 30 venues, nearly 200 local musical acts, a children’s music showcase, poetry, visual art, film, and a kickball game. Originally a for-profit organized by one person, Homegrown became a nonprofit in 2006, and now consists of a 13-member steering committee, five-member board of directors and Executive Director, Melissa La Tour. The festival pays performers and covers basic operating costs with revenue from ticket sales, venue fees, and sponsorship/advertising from its annual 100-page Homegrown Field Guide magazine. Weeklong passes cost $30; single-day passes are $10.
