Durham Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) is a citizens group whose purpose is to advise Durham's Council & Commissioners on bike & ped issues
The Durham Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) has officially endorsed the Connecting Durham 2024 bond referendum! Also known as the streets & sidewalks bond, the referendum allocates $115M of funding for sidewalk repair, maintenance, and construction in Walltown, near NCCU’s campus, and other parts of our city in need of better sidewalk connectivity. Vote in favor of safer streets and sidewalks for all Durhamites!

Come try out new electric bicycles (e-bike) and seated scooters and learn how you can rent and use them for work, school, groceries, and more.
Staff from GoDurham and the Transportation Department will also be available to share information and gather feedback on bus service expansion, multimodal transportation options, and traffic safety across the city.

So Fayetteville Street is getting lots of attention in terms of upcoming investments and improvements. You might have heard about the planning work done right as the pandemic was starting. That work is called the Better Bus Project and it was focused on getting to and from public transit safely, NOW we're in the DESIGN phase that gets things ready for the construction phase. Pictures from BPAC’s first in-person meeting since 2020! We heard from GoDurham’s Mobility Services Manager Brian Fahey about the exciting work going on in the paratransit and microtransit space to connect all Durham residents to their destination.
We also discussed some opportunities over the next month to get involved with Bike Month activities happening in our city. Stay tuned for more information, and thanks to all those who attended our meeting the other night!
Congratulations for the successful completion of the 29th annual Hayti Heritage Film Festival! On Saturday night, there were two awe inspiring films about cycling featured that documented two different 350 mile rides.
The two films were The Route to Emancipation and Bike Vessel.
