We showed our appreciation to our new roommates by planting them a perennial flower bed. We will have an additional wildflower patch for them come spring next year!

They buzzed around us all weekend while we planted. Sometimes even refusing to get out of a flower while we planted it!

It cannot be overstated how much we think the bees helped us grow the gorgeous berries we have for you this season. We are grateful to the bees and their keepers and love having them now a part of the BG Family.

Come see their good work this Saturday - we will be open for UPick 9-3.

First handful of berries this season… disappeared straight into our kids’ mouths! Life doesn’t get any better.

2024 seasons coming soon…

Photos from Blueberry Glenn's post 06/23/2024

Some views of the garden look exactly the same as last year around this time ➡️ … others look wonderfully different.

A new season.
Blueberries ripening.
New flowers blooming.
Kids playing.
A brand new life emerging.
More laundry.
Less inside to-do’s being accomplished.
Grass being cut. And cut. And cut some more.
So many more slugs to chop.

All in all this season is shaping up to be one of growth and change. Whatever this season holds for us this summer, I hope you’ll join in the chaos and love that comes with spending time picking with us on our farm!

Happy Mother’s Day to all those celebrating/remembering/mourning/wishing.

In lieu of it being “my” day here’s a couple facts about the woman behind the title.

+My husband, kids, family, and friends are truly what make my world spin.
+I’m a home body. Leaving the farm feels like too much work and the second I drive away I long to get back.
+I cancel on my best friends more than I see them. Not because I don’t love them. Not because they’re not the best things on the planet. But, see above. It’s okay - we’re all in agreement we’re tenured friends. No refunds.
+Last year we took out a few tree stumps and found no “treasures” but a lot of rocks. Literally a quarry full of rocks in my backyard. I spent the entire summer removing all the good ones by hand. When people came over they thought I had literally lost my mind. My own mom commented that she felt she had “joined a chain gang” anytime she stepped foot here. But I loved it. Still do. If you truly love me you’ll come over, let me serve you whiskey, and dig out rocks with me.
+I am fiercely protective of my kids. But, I think the “Mama Bear” saying is stupid. It should be a mama cougar or mama rhino. Stealthy. And mean. And before you know what hits you - you’re gone. That’s a Mama.
+I turn 40 this summer. And have never felt more like myself.
+My mom and pseudo mom went to a movie every weekend while I was growing up. Sometimes multiple ones per week. I didn’t gain their enthusiasm. Movies = nap time or time for projects in my eyes. My best friend tried a “Katie’s Movie List” to educate me on the classics a few years ago. I was a lost cause.
+The last year has been the hardest I’ve ever stormed. All kinds of reasons. And still, my marriage and faith is the most intact it’s ever been. I’m one of the lucky ones.
+The only thing I want to accomplish in life is to raise kids who love each other, are kind humans, and want to grow up and still spend time with us. Simple.
+My mom is building a tiny home on the farm in two years. Her husband doesn’t know yet. It’s okay - he doesn’t do social media. If everyone could encourage her below to get on with it already, that would be great! (He’s coming, too 😉).

Living in an area that’s pitch black had its perks last night!!
Such magic.
iPhone coming in as the real MVP - since none of this was visible otherwise.
We loved it.

05/03/2024

I see a lot of bonfires in our near future… some serious lawn mowing, too. 😉

The entire back field was pruned this year. It’s no longer filled with an entanglement of branches but has rows of beautiful bushes all the way across! We are so thrilled to have gotten to this point.

Come on summer. We are excited to welcome you back.

Newest roommates.

The bees. Not their keepers.
But, we certainly like the keepers, too!

We wanted to add honeybees this year.
The blueberry bushes need them.
The flowers need them.
People need their honey.
Yet I (Katie) couldn’t fathom putting energy into keeping another thing alive.

Bees WITH keepers is the best of all worlds.
We are so happy!
No one tell the bears. 😉

What do you want to see more of during DATE NIGHTS? We love these special evenings with you and want to know if there are things we can do to level up!

Our friends at the Seattle Tree Fruit Society and the Snohomish County Tree Fruit Society are hosting a blueberry pruning workshop on Saturday at our farm from 10am to 2pm. You’re invited to join- bring warm clothes, sturdy waterproof shoes, water/snacks and your pruning equipment. STFS and SCFS will have instructors available to teach you to prune, and we have plenty of bushes to practice on.

We are grateful for the help and for the opportunity to meet more community members! See you Saturday.

For those asking - mama and twin babies are still here and thriving! They’ve moved on from blueberry leaves and are currently munching grass. They come and go twice a day spending nights in the back field.

This is their home, too, and we wouldn’t have it any other way…unless I find out they’re the ones who trampled my new trees. 😉

01/06/2024

Let the pruning season begin…

If I’m being honest, pruning is not my favorite part of the year. It’s time consuming and feels like an insurmountable amount of work.

Then I take a step back and remember this is the place we dreamed of and wished for. How lucky we are to buy a home that came with this blueberry farm! So, that’s the mindset I’m taking into pruning season : gratitude.

We are blessed beyond measure to have healthy bodies that can perform this work. Gratitude that we get to watch our kids grow up alongside these bushes. Humbled by the built in community this piece of land afforded us. What a beautiful legacy we have the privilege to be a part of.

So, if you see us out pruning in the pouring rain for the next few months please know we may look miserable, but deep down we are so grateful. (Maybe deeper down some days than others… 😉)

Merry Christmas.
Love, Blueberry Glenn

Our account was spammed several times this morning. We hope to sell sweatshirts at some point in the near future, but we don’t have any ready now. Please do not click on any links that do not come from us directly. We promise to keep you posted when a REAL opportunity to buy merch becomes available.

A huge shout out to those that brought my attention to the posts. Appreciate it!

This summer we grew.
We grew berries and flowers and vegetables.
We grew our hearts for this community and the friendships we made along the way.
We grew gratitude for the family and friends who stopped their lives so they could help us with ours.
But, most of all we grew our appreciation for you.

The stories you shared. The love you showed us. The kind words and thoughtful conversations we had throughout this summer. Those are the things we will take into the “off" season that will compel us to come back better for next year!
Being a part of this community is the damned best!

Thank you.
From the tips of our toes, THANK YOU!
What a wonderful season 2023 was to us.

Until next year, CHEERS!

Just here to remind you that we are not the blueberry police. 💙

For every family that has a toddler who gorges themselves on berries while you pick (hey, we get it, we’ve got one too!) there’s another family that buys flowers, or snow cones, or writes a nice review.

We don’t care that you eat a blueberry, not like it, so you eat a different one.
I don’t even care if you eat a blueberry, like it, and then eat more of the same.
This space is less about what you consume and more about how you feel after you leave us. Knowing that you came here and enjoyed yourself and want to come back for years to come is the most important part for us.

Now, don’t get me wrong, we can’t be the fruit sampling equivalent of Costco. But, we also want you to have fun.

So, we’ll keep saying “eat your way perpendicular across the field until you find a variety you like. Then pick more of those to take home!”

Let’s keep things simple.

08/17/2023

HOW MANY BLUEBERRIES is in this bush in the photo? I will report back tomorrow. (Only properly ripe berries were picked and then weighed right after this photo was taken).

Hint: it is in the pounds. 😉
