How to recognize the signs of burnout:

👉 Physical and emotional exhaustion
👉 Feeling overwhelmed or hopeless
👉 Decreased interest in activities you once enjoyed

Tips to Avoid Burnout:
✔️ Take Breaks: Allow yourself regular downtime to recharge.
✔️ Seek Support: Talk to friends, family, or support groups.
✔️ Practice Self-Care: Prioritize your health with exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient sleep.
✔️ Set Boundaries: If you can, try to delegate tasks when necessary.

Hospice El Paso offers caregiver relief through our Volunteers who can provide support to allow a caregiver personal time away from the home.

When is hospice care needed? 🤔

Hospice care isn't just for older people. We also provide compassionate support to children and families through difficult times. Hospice care is needed when curative treatment is no longer an option, and the focus shifts to comfort and quality of life. Some signs may include:

➡️ Increased or uncontrolled pain
➡️ Increased anxiety
➡️ Shortness of breath (especially with O2 dependency)
➡️ Uncontrolled nausea and vomiting
➡️ Alterations in mental status (i.e. agitation)
➡️ Frequent hospitalizations
➡️ Continued weight loss
➡️ Repeat or multiple infections
➡️ Difficulty swallowing
➡️ Progressive decline despite curative treatments
➡️ Decrease in mobility
