Loretto is an academic institution founded by the Sisters of Loretto that encourages an approach to all of life that promotes mutuality, collaboration, and compassion. We reject relationships based on dominance or submission and embrace the following values: Community, Faith, Justice, and Respect.
This past week, our elementary students honored Grandparents Day with a heartfelt mass, followed by a delightful breakfast with live music and fun activities. It was a wonderful celebration of family and community.
Thank you grandparents for all that you do. 🤍
Congratulations to our College Board National Recognition Program awardees! 🌟
Nineteen Loretto Academy Students are being recognized for their academic excellence and hard work in high school. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and achievements. 💛

Today we commemorate the lifeswork of Josita Lucker or Sister William Joseph Jr.
Born in China and raised by Brigadier General and Josephine “The Admiral” Glasgow at the Magoffin Home after her mother’s death in 1938. She earned a B.A. in Sociology from St. Mary’s College in 1954 and joined the Maryknoll Sisters, taking her first vows in 1957. Assigned to her first mission in Tanganyika (now Tanzania) in 1958, Josita spent 34 years as a missionary in Africa and seven in El Salvador, where she also served as a school principal. In 1975, she earned an M.A. in Religious Studies from Mundelein College. Returning to El Paso in the late 1990s, she helped organize the Magoffin family history when the Home became a state historic site. Josita now resides at the Maryknoll Sisters' retirement home in New York and is in declining health.
Thank you to our friends at Magoffin Home State Historic Site for sharing this story with us.

Congratulations to Santana Gomez, Finalist for the 2024 Steward of the Year! 🪽💛
Santana exemplifies the spirit of stewardship through her commitment to prayer, service, and giving. Over the past year, she took the heartfelt initiative to address the influx of refugees at the border. Using her sewing talents, Santana crafted 50 blankets for migrant children staying at Diocesan shelters.
Her dedication didn’t stop there—she also taught other young women in the community to sew, inspiring them to carry forward this compassionate effort.

We kicked off with a heartfelt blessing, setting a positive and inspiring tone for the year ahead.
Let's make this year the best one yet!💛
As we embark on the first day of school, we come together in prayer to our patron saint, Our Lady of Sorrows, seeking her blessings for a successful and fulfilling 2024-2025 school year. We ask for her guidance and grace to illuminate the paths of our students, parents, faculty, and staff, fostering a community grounded in faith, compassion, and academic excellence. May her light inspire us all to grow in wisdom and virtue, and may her love be a source of strength and comfort throughout the year.
