Welcome to school year 2024-25! This is your YTA Board of Directors and Board Officers. They have been working all summer long to be better prepared to inform, support, and protect our members. ABC-7 XTRA SUNDAY: Budget Crisis in Local School Districts - KVIA These are challenging times for school districts across Texas, and El Paso is no exception. The three major school districts -- El Paso, Ysleta and Socorro -- are all facing declining student enrollment and budget deficits.

Congratulations to Mr. Alex De La Peña and Maria Hernandez! Mr. De La Peña is this year's recipient of the George I. Sanchez Memorial Award, an award given to educators making a positive impact in bringing equal opportunities to Hispanics. Maria Hernandez continues to lead her campaign for NEA ESP At Large with great effort, dedication, and endurance.

Alejandro De La Peña Jr. - George I. Sánchez Memorial Award | NEA Alejandro De La Peña Jr., is a special education teacher in El Paso, Texas, who tirelessly works to ensure that all students have access to equitable educational opportunities.

Happy Pride Day! On this day, in 1969, the Stonewall Riots began after police raided the Stonewall Inn, a LGBTQ+ establishment. The riot ended on July 3, 1969, and has since evolved into the Pride Parades we know today.

State Board of Education considers approving 5 new charter schools in Texas Public education advocates opposed the new charters, which would launch in Arlington, Austin, Big Spring, Manor and Terrell.
