🌟 Golden Days Parade Float: Tales Under the Nipa Hut🌟
We are beyond thrilled to announce that our float for this year's Golden Days Parade, "Tales Under the Nipa Hut," WON the award for Best Non-Commercial Float! 🏆✨
A massive THANK YOU to everyone who poured their heart, soul, and creativity into making this float a dazzling success. Your dedication and teamwork truly made this possible, and we are immensely proud of our community!
This year's parade theme, “Tale as Gold as Time,” provided the perfect backdrop for us Filipinos to share our rich heritage and timeless tales. We celebrated our Filipino roots that have flourished into Alaskan dreams! 🌾🏡
Our float featured our cherished elders: Betsy Merto Engle, who enchanted our children with stories of our heritage, accompanied by Brother Ernest and Sister Virginia Urbina Arellano. In the truck bed facing the float, we honored young Betsy Boekskool in our chair of honor, symbolizing the next generation. The energy soared with a spectacular dance performance led by Vice President Josephine CC Sneed ! 💃✨
This unforgettable event was the grand kickoff by our newly elected officers to unite the Fil-Am community. We can't wait to share more of our vibrant culture in future events!

Wow! Our Filipino community truly shines when called upon! Yesterday's Parade float building party was a huge success with 44 fantastic volunteers showing up and getting so much done! The framework is built, dresses and outfits are perfectly organized, fitted, and selected, and countless design elements came together seamlessly. A wonderful spread of food was brought by so many to keep volunteers energized. Special thank you to Goo Dah for making extra food and the halo-halo was a special treat.
We also received an incredible $1300 in various donations and numerous supply donations. A special thank you to Clean Start Services for their generous sponsorship.
