It is with profound sadness that NIAM needs to announce the passing of our Chief Operations Officer, Wayne Bartz. Mr Bartz was deeply cherished by the staff and participants of NIAM. Mr Bartz joined the NIAM team on April 1, 2022. He came with a wealth of knowledge and lived the principles of NIAM. Through his guidance, NIAM grew exponentially. Please keep Mr Bartz's family, friends, and team in your thoughts and prayers
Hey gang! I'm doing something a little different this week. Instead of events in the metro this weekend (tbh there wasn't much), I'm going to promote Moorhead Community Education classes! If you haven't taken one before, you should do so! They're fun and you can learn some really neat things. I have listed a few interesting offerings, but you can find their catalogue on the magazine rack at Hornbachers.
Some exciting offerings include:
**Art classes--painting, drawing, clay
**Music classes--learn guitar or piano
**Dance and exercise classes--yoga, zumba, kick boxing
**Cooking classes--Indian cuisine seems particularly popular but they also have cookie decorating, instant pot, pizza and more
**Languages--Spanish, ASL, French
**Self Improvement--funeral planning, writing, hypnosis to lose weight or quit smoking
And many more options! If you have kids there are also quite a few youth offerings. If you take one or more of these classes, I'd love to hear what you took and if you had fun.
Happy Thursday! What are we doing this weekend? Jessica has been trying to spend less time online and more time being creative! She would love to hear from you if you are doing the same.
**Horace Bean Days: 8/17-8/20
**Broadway Square Bash: 8/18
**Renaissance Fair 8/19-8/20
**Market at West Acres 8/19
**Red River Market 8/19
****REMINDER**** lovely folks on SNAP! It is usually ACCEPTED at the farmer's market! Sometimes they will even give you vouchers for free produce.
**As always, if you hear of anything else please post!!
It's Thursday and we all know what that means on NIAM's page! It's time for your weekend activities!
**This is ironic but...join Jessica on her technology free evening tomorrow. She plans to read and do crafts without using her phone.
Please gently remind her if you do see her on social media.
**There are TWO Renaissance Faires this weekend! One is at the fairgrounds and the other is at the horse racing park. This is the last weekend for the one at the fairgrounds, but the other one runs through the end of August. Might see Jessica wearing medieval clothes and eating a turkey leg.
**Market at West Acres is back on Saturday
**Red River Market downtown
*****REMINDER****** For all of you lovely folks with SNAP benefits, you CAN use them at farmer's markets! Sometimes they even give you vouchers that you can redeem for fresh produce in the future.
**Are you a dog lover? Drekker is hosting a Doggy Party with give a ways and fun activities! Plus bring a pet item to donate to Homeward Animal Shelter. Saturday 12-6pm
Hi everyone! It's time once again for Jessica's weekly "What are you doing this weekend?" post! So here's what's going on in the metro this weekend. If you hear about anything fun, please post in the comments!
June 2nd:
**The Redhawks take on Lincoln, NE at 7pm. Tickets usually range between $8-15. While you're there, Jessica recommends ordering the nacho helmet and sharing it with a friend or several.

**Chalk Fest! Come and show off your art skills. On Broadway from noon to 2pm.
**Redhawks at home against Lincoln again tonight. 6pm start.
June 4th:

**Plant Pop Up Sale! At Junkyard Brewing from noon-4pm. Admission is free, plants are extra! "Unique and hard to find" plants will be available to take home.
**Another Redhawks game against Lincoln. 1pm start time.
June 5th:
**I know this is technically Monday but my inner child requested that I post this. In West Fargo's POW/MIA Park, you can see Space Jam outdoors, with complimentary popcorn. Address is 400 Sheyenne St. at 7pm.
Also a heads up that the harbinger of summer, Rib Fest, is the 7th-10th. $5 admission, stuffing your face with delicious food is extra. There are also live bands, to include: Parmalee, Jimmie Allen, Fuel, and Lit. See you there?
I'm sorry this is late breaking news but...here are the results of last week's chili contest!
