Starting June 10th, Veterans who are not going to be interred in a State or Federal Veteran's cemetery and will not be ordering a headstone or medallion for a private cemetery, can order an Urn for cremated Veterans or a memorial plaque from the NCA.

“It’s important to note that, if a family chooses a plaque or urn to commemorate a Veteran, VA is prohibited by law from interring that Veteran’s remains in a VA national cemetery or from providing a headstone, marker, or medallion for placement in any cemetery. Families should be certain when choosing to receive a plaque or urn to commemorate their Veteran, because once this decision is made, it cannot be undone. The law does not provide a method to restore these benefits.”

NCA adds options for commemorative plaques and urns - VA News Soon, families of deceased and cremated Veterans can receive commemorative plaques or urns if they do not want a gov-furnished headstone, marker or medallion.

On May 16th at 2pm there will be a ceremony in Jamestown at the Buffalo Mall to dedicate the Highway 281 overpass that crosses I-94 as the Hidden Wounds Veterans Overpass. This overpass is intended to raise awareness of the hidden wounds suffered by the veteran and military communities who died struggling with Post Traumatic Stress, traumatic brain injury, depression, anxiety, and other unseen ailments due to military service. Please join us at the dedication ceremony.
