FM Area Diversion Project
The FM Area Diversion will provide permanent flood protection to 260,000+ people in the FM region.
In recognition of World Photography Day, here are some of our favorite shots of the FM Area Diversion project. Which do you like best?
"The collaboration and coordination between our local, state and federal entities is astounding. Two states, two counties, three cities, working together on a project of this magnitude demonstrates the impossible is possible if everyone works together. I am proud to be part of a project that will bring permanent, reliable flood protection to the FM area for generations to come." ~ City of Moorhead, Minnesota Mayor Shelly Carlson, MFDA Board Chairwoman

Q. When somebody says "100-year flood," what does that really mean?
A. There's a 1% chance in any given year that floodwaters will reach that level.
Curious how high that level is? It's marked on the Spirit of the Sandbagger.
We Asked, Corey Answered: What's it like working as a geotechnical engineer on the FM Area Diversion project?
Current Events: Jeremy Fenske, a superintendent with ASN Constructors, shows us what his team is working on this month at the Maple River Aqueduct. Once completed, it will route the Maple River over the stormwater diversion channel.

Did you know we have some land for sale? We have variously sized parcels available near the FM Area Diversion.
❓Why? The MFDA acquired some additional land from property owners that requested we purchase a larger portion of their land than was needed for the project. According to our policy, we are reviewing our asset lands and determining which parcels are ready to be offered for sale to member entities, previous property owners, neighboring property owners and the public.
❓When? Parcels are listed on our website once the co-executive directors and MFDA Board approve it for sale.
❓How? View the parcels online and contact us if you're interested in purchasing one. This will be on a first come, first served basis.
