Please help us find a home for Lilly! We have a veteran in Ulen who needs to enter long-term care, but won't until he finds a home for his only family, a large (90 #) dog named Lilly. Lilly is a senior dog. She is a black lab/husky mix. She is house broken and will use a kennel and is up to date with care (she's spayed). Armstrong Announces Service Academy Nominations
WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) announced that he has nominated three North Dakotans to the U.S. service academies: Nicolas Armendariz-Lotito of Grand Forks to the U.S. Air Force Academy; Ryaan Alshami of Grand Forks to the U.S. Naval Academy; and Marc Steinberg of Fargo to the U.S. Military Academy.
“Nicolas, Ryaan, and Marc have answered the call to serve our country. I’m proud to nominate them to the service academies,” said Congress Armstrong. “As their journey to become future leaders of our armed services begins, I join their family, friends, neighbors, and all North Dakotans in thanking them and wishing them the best.”
Nicolas Armendariz-Lotito, Grand Forks – U.S. Air Force Academy
Nicolas is a 2023 graduate of Grand Forks Central High School and is currently attending the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School in Colorado. His high school extracurricular activities included wrestling, football, track and field, and Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps. He is a member of the National Honors Society and holds black belts in karate and kickboxing.
Ryaan Alshami, Grand Forks – U.S. Naval Academy
Ryaan is a senior at Grand Forks Central High School. His high school extracurricular activities include soccer, track and field, and captain of the swim team. He is a member of the National Honors Society. He served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, the Alzheimer’s Walk Association, and the United Way foundation.
Marc Steinberg, Fargo – U.S. Military Academy
Marc is a senior at the Liberty University Online Academy and is a member of the Fargo South Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, where he serves as squadron support officer. He has participated in competitive cheer at North Dakota Elite for 10 years. He has volunteered at his church teaching children for eight years.
The service academies other than the U.S. Coast Guard Academy require a nomination from their U.S. Representative, one of their U.S. Senators, or the Vice President of the United States to attend. Armstrong has nominated these three individuals to the respective academy, and each academy admission board will determine final appointments.

We’re so proud to be able to team with Progressive and the “keys to progress” campaign for the second year in a row. The program awarded a local Air Force veteran of Kuwait and Afghanistan service. She can now get her and her kids to appointments. She is a veteran advocate too. Thank you for your service.
