We are so excited for the first day of school tomorrow! Here are a few reminders to help ensure a smooth first day!
Students can enter the building beginning at 7:15 and will be considered tardy after 7:45. Afternoon pickup begins at 2:15 and ends at 2:45. Students not picked up by 2:45 will be taken to the front office.
Car riders will enter through B building, which is located on the left side of the building. For everyone’s safety, please make sure your student does not exit the vehicle until a staff member signals for them to. Also please have your student ready to exit when it is their turn (backpack on and all additional items in hand.)
Kindergarten students will follow this schedule for the first week only:
Monday: Last names A-G
Tuesday: Last names H-L
Wednesday: Last names M-P
Thursday: Last names R-Z
If your student is a bus rider, please check out the Here Comes the Bus app to be able to monitor where their bus is. Please have your student at his/her assigned stop 5-10 minutes before the scheduled time.
We look forward to sharing in your student’s educational journey this year!

We are so happy to have built such a great relationship with Ben Stout Construction! Thank you again for supporting our book fair!
Little Ladies First had an after school tea party that served as an enrichment experience for those students who participated. Led by music teacher, Quaniesha Crankfield, and 2nd grade teacher, Itainya Ling, the students wore tea party attire, learned tea party etiquette, drank tea, had light snacks, and enjoyed socialization with other young ladies. We danced our way home!
On May 1, our students were met with quite a surprise when they arrived at school! Our media coordinator, Ms. Clark, had been organizing a secret book fair all year. With the help of community partners (Ben Stout Construction, Jumpin' Java Coffee Shop, Miller's Brew Coffee Shop) in addition to friends, family, neighbors, fellow staff members, and complete strangers, Ms. Clark was able to collect over 4,000 new or gently used books. The school cafeteria was transformed overnight into a magical space to host the book fair. Every student was able to choose FIVE books to keep forever completely free of charge. We are grateful for every single person who helped bring this incredible experience to our Tigers and can’t thank you enough! Ask your student to share their favorite book and read it with you this evening! Leave a comment with their favorite book or a picture of your student with their new books!

We are so grateful to all of our community partners who volunteered their time with us for Career Day on Friday! Our scholars were able to visit and learn about all types of different future careers! We would also love to give a special shoutout to one of our school counselors, Mrs. Griffin, for organizing this event! We hope your student came home excited!
We are so proud of our Angelika for representing not only our school, but the entire Westover District!
Today, to wrap up Read Across America week, we had some students from Westover High School pay our scholars a visit and read to them! It was a wonderful experience! Thank you Westover!
Due to current weather conditions and potential road hazards, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will operate on a two-hour delay for students and school-based staff on Wednesday, January 10, 2024. This is out of an abundance of caution. Schools will start and buses will run two hours later than the normal time. Twelve-month employees and Central Services personnel will report to work at their normal time. Employees with questions should contact their direct supervisor for additional guidance.
Morning Prime Time will not be available, and breakfast will not be served. However, afternoon Prime Time will observe a normal schedule.
There may be roads that are not passable by buses. However, parents may transport students to school, in alignment with the two-hour delay, if they are able to safely do so. School officials will notify families if bus transportation is unavailable.
CCS’ inclement-weather plan focuses on the safety of students and staff. Visit the district's website and social media pages to receive updates.
Inclement Weather Announcement:
Cumberland County Schools Transitions to Remote Learning on Tuesday, Jan. 9
Fayetteville, NC – In light of the latest weather forecast, which also considers the potential timing of inclement weather, Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, will be an asynchronous remote learning day for Cumberland County Schools (CCS) students. The district’s inclement weather plan focuses on the safety of students and staff as weather forecasts are predicting possible heavy rainfall, sustained winds, and potentially dangerous wind gusts for tomorrow. Gov. Roy Cooper has signed an Executive Order today declaring a State of Emergency ahead of severe weather expected across the state.
During an asynchronous remote learning day, students work independently on assignments that are uploaded to the Canvas learning management platform. Elementary and middle school students will have five days to complete and submit their assignments, and high school students will have three days. Students enrolled in classes at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College and College Connections should contact their instructors for additional guidance.
The district’s Prime Time Before & After School Program will be closed on Tuesday. All athletic events and after-school activities scheduled for Tuesday have been canceled or rescheduled.
District offices and school buildings will be closed on Tuesday, and employees will work remotely. Employees with questions should contact their direct supervisor.
The Cumberland County Board of Education meeting has been rescheduled and will now take place on Thursday, January 11, at 6 p.m. and will be held in the Boardroom at the Central Services building, located at 2465 Gillespie Street, Fayetteville, NC 28306.
