Our Story
Cumberland County Schools (CCS) is committed to providing a safe, positive and rigorous learning environment to prepare lifelong learners to reach their maximum potential. Serving more than 50,000 students at 87 schools, CCS is focused on meeting the diverse learning needs of students. The school system is fully accredited, which certifies that it is focused on continuous improvement, data-informed decisions and increasing student achievement. The school system has a diverse student population that represents more than 75 different countries and 85 different native languages. Over 13,000 CCS students are military/federally connected. As one of the founding members of the Military Compact and Military Child Educational Coalition (MCEC), CCS has built a support system for the military child.
Guided by the priorities in The Cumberland Commitment: Strategic Plan 2024, which is focused on improving the academic success of students, CCS is investing in high-quality curriculum resources, professional development for educators and a tiered-support structure to help allocate resources where they are needed most.
