Fun today at Henderson, TN Farmers Market!
Gardening is a labor of love. It’s not a “set it and forget it” hobby. It’s a daily, intentional act of bringing something into existence. Of nurturing a seed, tending it carefully, meeting its needs and resolving issues as they present themselves.
Then, when ready, it’s introducing each seedling into the world and gently placing their roots in the ground, firmly patting the soil around the tiny stems. All while silently sending up a prayer for a successful season.
You walk the gardens daily, tending them diligent and with an always watchful eye. If things go well, in a few months you’re rewarded with a healthy harvest. Or, as sometimes is inevitable, you battle nature, and it wins.
Instead of a harvest you come away with a lesson. You learn, store that knowledge away, and do better next time.
There’s no “the end” in gardening. Rather, it’s a constant compiling of information and growth as a gardener, and more so, as a person. That’s the beauty of it. The garden is a constant teacher, and if you think about it, the lessons far outreach the garden beds. It’s a sharpening of skills, of your mind. To garden is to constantly be a student.
Xoxo, Eryn ❤️
