Balance Your Yoga

If you think you can't do yoga, you're in the right place. "Problems cannot be solved with the same mindset that created them" -A. Einstein. So switch it up!

Yoga is more than pretzel poses, and I incorporate lots of extras to offer you what is best for you, now. Yoga for strength and balance that translates into better mobility, better digestion, fewer aches and higher energy. EFT (Tapping) instead of talk, talk, talk - see how quickly you can move from a place of dis-ease (sadness, anxiety, phobic, overweight . . . ) with this non-invasive method. Re

A hawk and a fox and a family of deer in one day! You'd think I lived deep in the woods instead of a stone's throw from town. And yes, I will connect wildlife to my yoga life - read the email to see how!

I've got a new online program starting tomorrow- Tap it Down: Using EFT to repair your relationship with food. The Aug. 30 session is completely free, and will be followed by more if you want to join.

Never heard of EFT? It's also called Tapping, and it's a way to get past anxieties and negative self-talk so you can make real change. Like - letting go of that addiction to Oreos that's keeping you from being your best self!

Anyway, let me know if you want more info. The free session is Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 8pm. It's online so you can join from anywhere.

So . . . exercise is not only good for your heart, and is not only good for your bones and muscles, it's also good for the health of your brain! You won't find me running anywhere but I can get a lot of movement in other ways. Thinking I may need to step it up a notch.

Exercise delays brain degeneration!

Exercise-irisin-BDNF axis:

Physical exercise increases irisin levels and BDNF synthesis. Exercise-irisin-BDNF axis.

(Irisin is a skeletal muscle-secreted myokine, produced in response to physical exercise that has protective functions in both the central and the peripheral nervous systems, including the regulation of brain-derived neurotrophic factors).

In turn, irisin enhances BDNF synthesis and release, leading to augmented neuroplasticity achieved by the collaboration of irisin and BDNF.

Additionally, irisin modulates STAT3 (a protein that helps with cellular growth) signaling leading to the collaboration of irisin and BDNF. Additionally, irisin modulates STAT3 signaling leading to hippocampal proliferation. In this context, exercise and its sequelae, irisin and BDNF, may contribute
neuroplasticity and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s.

Moving into summer of 2021 makes me want to squint my eyes a little, peek out from behind the curtains, and try to gauge the mood of the world before I get dressed and step outside.

I want to brace myself before slipping out of the cocoon I’ve been wrapped in this past year. I need a deep breath before stepping out into a world that has not felt welcoming or comforting or even safe recently.

Some of us, myself included, suffered real loss these past months. People have left the Earthly realm, leaving us to grieve. Many have lost jobs, homes, friendships. Sometimes, just breathing seems too hard.

As a collective, we have been through the wringer. We have seen more changes and challenges than have taken place in generations, if ever. The pandemic has forced us to look at our government, our communities, our friendships, and our work differently. Change is hard even when we are supported in it; forced on us this way, change feels untenable, almost impossible to tolerate and adapt to.

But adapt we must, and adapt we will, because that’s why we are here, as humans, on this planet at this time.

Do you feel something similar? I’ve been thinking about what I need to do in order to bring back the sense that life is back on track, even if it’s on a different track than it was on in 2019. (Go to my blog to see what I'm thinking , address in comments.)
