The beginning of a yoga journey is a special time. If you are new to yoga, or an experienced student who wants to revisit the basics and explore ways to deepen your practice, Yoga 101 – A Beginners Yoga Workshop is for you!



Learn the fundamentals of common yoga poses and gain a greater understanding of modifying poses and your practice to meet your personal needs. In addition to covering yoga poses, the 3-hour workshop includes an opportunity to learn about breathwork, a brief explanation of yoga philosophy and styles of yoga, and a gentle flow to practice newly learned yoga skills.

The full moon in Capricorn is known for its stabilizing and disciplined energy and aligns perfectly with the root chakra’s focus on security and foundation. This moon leads us to have a strong need for being useful to society. It is not a time to seek approval from the outside, it will not rid you of your doubt and it is harmful to you. You must trust your inner values. Focus on feeling gratitude for what challenges and inspires you. It is time to reflect on your long-term plans and recognize the progress you’ve made due to your efforts.

Take time to appreciate the steps you’ve taken which allow for your secure future. Energy and attention are precious resources. This is a time for steeping in appreciation of yourself and for recognizing the effort you’ve put into securing a stable and supportive foundation.Participants will be gently guided through restorative yin poses, each held for several minutes to release deep-seated tension and to foster a sense of inner peace.

Accompanied by the soothing vibrations of crystal singing bowls and other harmonic instruments, the sound bath enhances the meditative state, allowing the lunar energy to deepen the connection to the earth. This serene environment cultivates a powerful space for grounding, reflection, and realignment. This practice results in participants feeling rooted, balanced, and in harmony with the rhythms of nature.

Leap AcroYoga 101 with Reno Gorman & Sheri House

Learn the FUNdamentals of AcroYoga with Reno and Sheri! All levels welcome, no experience or partner necessary.

Specifics:

AcroYoga is a blend of partner yoga and acrobatics. It’s an incredibly fun movement practice that takes your yoga to new heights. You’ll learn fundamental techniques and poses in this workshop so you can safely and effectively base and/or fly. You’ll develop strength, flexibility, and balance through this practice, and have a lot of fun while doing it. The gravity defying moves may look intimidating or impossible, but are a lot more doable than you might think.
No experience necessary – any yoga, dance, or gymnastic experience is helpful though.

No need to come with a partner – we work in groups of 3 or 4, so that there is always at least one safety spotter. And, this gives you a chance to rotate out to try another role or to take a break as needed.
No need to bring a mat, Reno will bring padded mats that work better for AcroYoga than yoga mats.

Reno has been teaching AcroYoga for over a decade, and teaches across the country at conventions and festivals. He is a certified AcroLove instructor and also a ERYT-200 yoga instructor with over 20 years experience practicing yoga. He is co-founder of The Handstand Nation and performs with Aries Moon Circus.
