Norcal French Bulldog Rescue

Dedicated to improving the lives of displaced French Bulldogs in the Northern California area. The Nor Cal French Bulldog Rescue is a non-profit organization.

We have volunteers who love the French Bulldog breed and are dedicated to its continued well-being. The volunteers find new homes for approximately 25 French Bulldogs each year. Many hundreds of dollars are spent to provide medical care, food, shelter, and training while the rescued Frenchies are awaiting adoption. If you want to help the French Bulldogs waiting for adoption, you can make a donation to help pay the vet bills. Your support is greatly appreciated. EIN 26-0594203

Hello all you Frenchie Loving Tribe,

I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of rescue for 24yrs. I love this breed beyond words. I’m also a lover of English Bulldogs ( the breed that started all this for me 25yrs ago). With rescue comes lots of heartache and lots of pure happiness and joy ♥️🐾♥️ One of the things I love the most is staying in so many of the rescue kids lives after they get their new families. I have had the pure joy in being able to adopt to my families multiple times over the years. I call them “ repeat offenders 🤣🤣🤣” taking on some of the challenges of kids that need so much love and attention ( patients and inconsistency). You are the superstars !!!!
I often wake up to a text from my families saying today is their “gotcha” day and how they can’t even imagine life without their French kid ♥️ I love this so much 😭♥️ This is why I do this. Rescue never sleeps, our breed is in crisis. Rescues, shelters, foster homes and caring people are trying to help as many as possible. When a breed becomes popular it can really screw things up for the breed. Over breeding by people who want to make money with zero concern for these living, feeling beings. We here at NCFBR care deeply about our breed. We have been at full capacity for a long time. We take in as many as we can. Foster homes are always needed. Donations help. Food and money go directly to the frenchies. Thank you all so much for being part of our tribe. I also extend this to our sister rescue NorCal Bulldog Rescue 🥰
Hug your “kids” you can never have to much love.
My rescue kids Arthur and Ava ♥️🫶🏼♥️
Have a beautiful day,
Please consider adopting / fostering if you can ♥️
Please add a pic of your kids you’ve adopted below to share and show the love 🥰

MOLLY - Female-Spayed - Dark Brindle - DOB: 2/11/19 - 5 years old - 22.0 pounds.

Molly came into Rescue originally over a year and a half ago with 4 other dogs that lived in the backyard. She was adopted by an older couple that has worked tirelessly on her potty training and anxiety issues.
She has improved so much in her anxiety issues that she does not require any medication because she has settled in and feels comfortable. The only time they use anxiety medication is if they have to go to the Vet or go in the car.
The couple lives in a small condo and the fact that she is not totally housebroken has become a major issue. She hits the p*e-pads about 80% of the time and never p**ps in the house. She will p**p outside. But because the condo is so small, the 20% she misses the p*e pad, the smell from p*e-pads, and her tracking p*e from stepping on the pads has made it very difficult for them to continue to keep Molly. They change out p*e pads during the day. They do have a doggy door, but she doesn't always use it. We just started a medication called Proin that helps with urine issues and it is definitely trending in the right direction.

Molly is a very loving dog and super attached to the wife (women). Because she has adapted so well and is attached to them, they feel that they need to be part of the process of re-homing her, to make sure the home she goes to would be a good fit. They hate to put her through that process again! An ideal home would have a small fenced-in backyard and probably a woman that is around a lot.
If you think "Molly" could be a good fit for you and your family, Please make sure you have an application on file, before inquiring about "Miss Molly".
We are looking for a quiet calm household with a woman who is home more.
Molly requires patience and consistency as she makes her transition to another home.

Only serious applicants apply - we want this next home to be Molly's forever home.

Pinkie - between 3-4 years old - female spayed - weighs: 22.0 lbs

Pinkie came into Rescue via the Local Animal Shelter. When she arrived at the shelter her skin and ears were crusty and she had lots of fleas on her. She has since been treated for the fleas and is on medication for her skin and ears. She was recently spayed and had her nares opened and her palate resection done. She is breathing great and seems to be on the road to recovery.

She is a Sweet Girl who just wants to be a snuggle bunny - She is starved for attention and just wants to be with you all the time. She is very LoveaBULL! She appears to be potty trained, but does do excited p*eing when she gets excited to see you, but that has even gotten better with her getting into a good routine and schedule.

She is good with other dogs. She is not Cat Tested. Her skin is looking great, but she will always be a dog you will have to stay on top of her ears and skin. Major issue with skin/ears is yeast. Very treatable and regular bathing with a medicated shampoo has done wonders for her.
She enjoys her weekly Spa Treatment!
*If you are interested in "Pinkie", Please make sure you have an
application on file before inquiring about her*
ADOPTION FEE: $1,200.00 (includes Spay, Nares Surgery, Palate Surgery (Uvulectomy), Current Vaccines, Heartworm tested - Negative, Microchipped and Current Medications).

♥️🐾♥️ MEET "OREO"

3 Year Old Spayed Female French Bulldog, Dark Brindle and White

*See Story Below how "Oreo" came into Rescue from her Good Samaritan Angel*

This beautiful girl right here is named Oreo - she is a 3 year old French bulldog . She spent her first 2 and a half years as a breeder dog in a puppy mill. Kenneled 24/7 , treated terribly - an awful way to live . Roughly 6 months ago my cousins boyfriend “rescued her” and brought her home to live with him. The boyfriend ended up having to turn himself into jail shortly after bringing Oreo home. For 3 months, Oreo was at home with my cousin. She quickly blossomed into a super sweet, fun, silly girl, full of life that she was just beginning to experience for the first time. Fast-forward to now, he has been out of jail for roughly 3 months. We stopped by to visit my cousin and found Oreo in heartbreakingly bad shape. She was not the same fun-loving , silly, beautiful girl that was so full of life that I knew a few months back . She was in a kennel, where apparently he kept her pretty much 24 /7. She was EMACIATED skinny . Her coat was in bad shape , along with her skin , and she had no life in her eyes whatsoever. She barely looked up at me and when she did, I lost control and started sobbing crying . It turned into a huge blowout fight, I made it clear I was not leaving without the dog - I called the police or animal control-it took three different calls, and finally after staking out the house from my car all day long I saw an officer go make contact at their house . He was in there probably for a total of 10-15 mins before coming back out , without the dog mind you, I was so confused. I went over to talk to him before he left, and apparently the story he was given was the dog had gotten sick a few weeks back, and that is why she had lost so much weight and was in the condition she was in. He convinced her that she was on the mend, officer said there was no indication to prove otherwise , and left it at that . I am so disappointed in our justice system . But I wasn’t giving up, so finally I came to an agreement with him, that if I paid him back the money that he “invested in her” , that I could take her. He said he spent $650 when he “rescued her “ , which is ironic that he uses that phrase considering, in my opinion , she ended up in a worse predicament with him . I would give him a million dollars if that’s what it took to get her out of there - After getting the funds together - I went over and retrieved "Oreo" and immediately surrendered her over to NorCal French Bulldog Rescue.

Oreo is scheduled to be spayed on 4/25/24 and will be ready for adoption by 5/6/24
Oreo appears to be semi-potty trained and will need some work with that, but is coming
along nicely - She will initially bark at you when she first meets you, but then warms up
and wants to be loved. This girl has a lot of potential moving forward with someone who
wants to make her the center of there world. She needs to be the only Dog in the house hold and No Cats! She likes her toys - She walks well on a leash. She has had a rough start in life and needs someone who will be willing to give her the time she needs to blossom once again.
If you are interested in "Oreo", Please make sure you have an application on file,
before inquiring about her.
ADOPTION FEE: $500.00 (includes spay, current vaccines, microchip and registration and heartworm tested negative).

Netty French Bulldog
Netty - 1 1/2 years old - Spayed Female - Dark Brindle and White - 23.0 pounds

Netty came into Rescue via the Shelter from a cruelty case. She was seized with
other dogs in the household. She is a very energetic girl who needs the chance to
blossom in the right home. She appears to get along with other dogs. Not Cat Tested.
She does have a lot of energy and will make a great addition to a family who has another
dog who likes to play. She will need work on her potty training, but she is improving.

She is going to be a project, because she really wasn't given the chance to be somebody's
pet. She can benefit by having somebody who is willing to put the time and effort into her.
She needs basic manners, needs to learn how to walk on a leash and get that one on one
attention she so desperately needs.

This could be a Diamond in the Ruff once she has gotten the Forever Home she deserves. She is looking to bond with somebody who is patient and willing to be consistent with her training and schedule.
*If you are interested in "Netty" - Please make sure you have
an application on file before inquiring about her*
ADOPTION FEE: $700.00 (includes spay, current vaccines,
microchip and heartworm tested - negative and
heartworm and flea preventative medication)

Nora - 5 year old Spayed Female - Cream - weighs: 22.0 pounds

a home caesarian section that was not done properly and got infected.
She has been re-cooping comfortably and feels much better and is on the road
to recovery. Nora appears to get along with other dogs, but has Not Been Cat Tested.
She gets super excited to see her person and is eagerly awaiting her forever home.
This little girl will need work on her potty training, but is doing well and headed in the
right direction. Nora will make a great addition to any family who wants a little snuggle bug.

♥️🐾♥️
Gizmo is a 1 yr. old boy that came into rescue when he was attacked by a dog in the home and had severe injuries to his face and neck. His owner couldn't afford the medical care that he needed. He was eventually surrendered to rescue to receive the medical care that he desperately needed. His injuries were surgically repaired, he has been neutered, had his nares done, updated vaccines, heartworm tested and micro chipped.

Positive attributes:
- LOVES people of all ages. This includes adults (men and women) and children.
- He will do well in a household with children 8 and up or adults only. May do well in a household with young children with supervision and training. While I believe he is friendly with children of all ages, he is very strong and likes to jump a lot - he may accidentally knock a small child over or be too rough when playing.
- Loves to play with all types of toys. He is very fun to watch and will play with toys on his own, or enjoys when the toy is thrown and he will bring it back to you.
-Loves to go for walks, and his leash skills are improving with each day. I am unsure how much exercise he will need in normal circumstances as he has been sick or exercise restricted for the whole time we've had him. When we have taken him for short leash walks, he always seems interested in more exercise and I think this helps him with his anxiety. We can say moderate exercise needs (or possibly more).
-Gizmo has a heart of gold and aims to please. I think with training and time he can do just about anything. He is very gentle with his mouth and will take all the affection he can get.

Points of Concern:
- Strong separation anxiety --> he struggles being away from his foster parents under all circumstances. He will pant, yowl, bark and cry when left alone. Eventually, he does settle down, but it takes a bit of time. I believe he will do best with an owner that is home often and can help him work thru his separation anxiety with a regular routine.
- I recommend he go to a home with no cats as he has shown repeated aggression towards the cats in his foster home.
- Some generalized anxiety, especially in the evening near bed time. I am not sure yet why he seems to get so amped up in the evening compared to the day. Maybe he is anticipating crate time (he spends overnight in his crate - he struggles with this)
- Unwilling to eat from a dog bowl. I believe there may have been trauma or punishment surrounding a dog bowl in his past as he seems afraid of it. I suspect with time and trust he can be retrained to eat out of a bowl. In the short term (or maybe long term), I recommend he be fed separately from other dogs to avoid any conflict.
- Questionable crate training skills. While Gizmo seems familiar with a crate, he has mixed feelings on spending time in a crate. Sometimes he is comfortable and happy in his crate, and sometimes he will yowl/bark/cry when placed in the crate even with soft and positive handling from Matt and I. He seems to know he should not potty in the crate, but he will p*e in the crate if his anxiety spikes (say, if our routine changes slightly).

Animals:
- Does great with medium to small dogs (say 40 lbs and under). He always wants to play with dogs we see on our walks and is very friendly with my dog (17 lbs)
- Has mixed feelings about large dogs (fearful). Could go to a home with a large dog, but he will need time and supervision to build trust with a larger dog.

Gizmo Update ♥️🐾♥️
What has Gizmo been up to the few days you ask? He's been maximizing rest and relaxation with 24/7 couch snuggles and belly rubs! Even on his potty breaks, belly rubs seem to take priority (see picture). He is feeling so much better after his second surgery now that his face is nearly healed. He is eating much better, too!

Gizmo Update ♥️♥️♥️🐾

Gizmo had some terrible wounds on the inside of his left lip when he first came to us. Because we didn't want to further injure the area, we've kept toys away from him. Today is the first day Gizmo gets his toys back, and he is so excited! See the video in the comments to see him in action! Gizmo says hello to all his fans.

Gizmo Update today: ♥️♥️♥️♥️

He got a bath this afternoon, so now he is clean and sweet-smelling! And his favorite part is now he can come up on the couch more often. He's making himself right at home, which is wonderful.
Couch snuggle time is the best ♥️

♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️Update

From Gizmo’s Foster Mom,
I asked Gizmo what he wants his fans to know today. He said that because he speaks dog better than he speaks English, his older brother is a much better teacher than me for how to walk on a leash. Gizmo just loves Dusty! Matt and I took Dusty and Gizmo for a short walk last night, and he walked so much better when he had a friend to show him! ♥️♥️🐾 He loves to sit for cookies ♥️

Again THANK YOU ALL ♥️ for the love and support ♥️🐾♥️
