On December 27th, a group of young children lined the sidewalk in front of our property. They were holding hands eagerly waiting to go to the park, smiling and singing, when, out of nowhere, a driver swerved around a bus and sped onto the sidewalk. This horrific hit-and-run took place at our apartment in Wilton Manors, taking the lives of two children and severely injuring four more - all under the age of 10. Two of the kids live in one of our homes, and the others, were all family members over to visit. Please consider helping this family grieve and recover.

There is one thing that all of the holidays this time of year have in common: hope. Hope in the face of adversity and hope for a brighter future. This is the same hope we at the South Florida Community Land Trust are providing our residents. Hope that they can balance their budget to meet their basic needs. Hope that their children will grow up in a safe neighborhood. And hope that, at the end of the day, they have a place to call home.
