❗️You did all the things! Everyone is raving about PILATES lately. So you tried and ugh....it just wasn't for you! Let's break this down!!

👊FIRST, PILATES is NOT a weight loss program!! That is not what it is intended for, so let's just clear that up now! It is also not going to BULK you up. We need both cardio and strength training ALONG with Pilates.

Now let's go into some others....

💥What is Controlology - the name Joseph Pilates gave his methods, reflecting his belief in the importance of the mind's control over the body. “It is the mind itself which builds the body. The Pilates Method teaches you to be in control of your body – and not at its mercy.”

❗️Fact- You may not be doing pilates. Are we saying that Classical or Contemporary is better than the other? NO! We are saying do AUTHENTIC PILATES! Know who is teaching you! Where are the certifications from, was it a weekend online, or have they had practice hours teaching, observing, and learning! We have ALL types of CERTIFICATIONS at Pilates Cure ( Personal Trainers to Mindset), but we teach PILATES! Do they intermingle? Yes, definitely, but we try and keep PILATES Pilates because that is what the clients come to the studio for!

💥Are you open for CORRECTIONS?! Even the best of students and instructors will need corrections. That is the joy of Pilates. Your instructor should be watching you carefully and helping you to connect better to the movements! You should be open to these corrections and know where your body is. Pilates is a MIND BODY connection! You have to be open to try and find those deeper connections and corrections!

💥PILATES is a LIFESTYLE!! You have to carry your pilates practice with you day in and day out. You can't just come to one or two classes a week and think that is all. You have to think of your imbalances, your posture, and your alignment throughout your day and nights!

Not all Pilates studios are the same. What makes us different?

✨You can’t blend into the crowd bc there is not crowd. Our largest class is 5 people.

✨ We can see when you are just going through the motions vs when you are locking into your body vs when you are overcompensating with your body - and we will help you understand how to “lock in” with your body and find ease and power in your movement

✨ we get to know you, your wants/goals, and the things your body needs that you don’t recognize yet. - We teach and mentor from there. Everybody starts at a different place.

✨ we usage all senses to teach skills: verbal, tactile (with permission) and visual because that’s how we make the biggest impact to create change

✨ We have felt the work and it’s benefits in our own bodies for YEARS, we have taught the work and walked beside to a wide variety of clients for YEARS, we have watched master teachers teach others and learned from them. - Pilates is in us and we can’t help but share it with you in a way you have never experienced 🤍

Pilates is very versatile.

On two extremes and everything in between…

💫 Pilates allows people to enter into the world of working out with a great deal of support. Creating a space for them to do things they never thought possible. Creating a place for us to build.

💫 Pilates allows for advanced athletes to be challenged in an unconventional way creating new connections and strengths. Creating a space for us to advance and differentiate skills.

Pilates CAN and does meet you where you are. But it will never be for everyone. It’s only for the ones who choose to allow the process to change them for the better.

Be COMFORTABLE with being UNCOMFORTABLE!! It is literally the only way we learn new things! How else are you going to learn??? We screw up, and we try harder til we get it! Think about babies. They have to try everything new. They mess up, and they keep trying! So when did we become so uncomfortable with messing up and stop trying???

🔥So go try something that makes you uncomfortable and then do it again until you are comfortable with it!!

Pilates is like the golf of the fitness world. It’s a mental activity.

If you aren’t making connections and feeling a difference you need to ask your teacher for help!

We do ask you to really strange things and often give you weird, almost nonsensical cues, to get your out of your logical brain and into just feeling and experiencing what is happening in your body.

It’s moving meditation. When you are done you should be at least glistening if not sweaty from the work, but your mind should feel more clear and your body more relaxed.

Not sure how this stigma came to be, but it’s the farthest from the truth in our four walls or in our online space.

(Not to say we don’t love the ballerina’s and dancers we do have, bc we do. But you don’t have to be one to be a part of our studio! Thank goodness bc none of our teachers are!)

Tell me you’ve never done Pilates at an actual Pilates studio without telling me you’ve never done Pilates at an actual Pilates studio 😅

Unfortunately, not all Pilates classes are the same. Just like all cloths retailers are the same. Hello Nordstrom vs Forever 21. Very different. Can’t really be compared even though they are both clothing stores.

💥💥Are you taking group pilates classes and have always thought why would I want to pay or do private training?? Or maybe you're new to Pilates and want group classes, but you're not sure where to begin! 

🛑Well, this is where and what the Private Training sessions are here for!! 

💥Yes, group classes are a wonderful choice and a great experience for everyone! You get to be in a social setting, and the dynamics are definitely different it that setting. At Pilates Cure, classes are designed to fit the class on the schedule. We teach those classes to the majority with scaffolding techniques to make everyone comfortable and get the most of that class experience.  

💥In a private session at Pilates Cure,  the instructors ask what your main goals are and where you want to be. We then tailor the sessions to YOUR body and YOUR goals.  No two persons sessions are the same because no two bodies are the same nor that persons goals. We want you to succeed, and we do everything we can to get you there. We work to YOUR body and break down moves to how it feels for just YOU. How do YOU make the connection more, where is YOUR strengths and struggles!! You then build upon those connections session after session!! 

❤️You can always take what you learn for YOUR body and jump in those group classes more aware. You just may feel that movement a little different!!

Pilates is resistance training and it great for you. You should definitely do two to three classes a week to maximize core strength, muscle integration, coordination and your overall stability.

But it’s not going to help much with muscle growth in your larger prime movers muscle.

📣 This is important because as you age you start to loose muscle mass and need resistance training to prevent that. 📣

Remember growing big muscle is relative to your goals, but keeping your muscle mass as you age helps with:
👉 longevity
👉 independence
👉 hormone balance
👉 aesthetics
and more!

Your body is an amazingly intelligent and complex piece of machinery. One style of resistance training isn’t enough. Adding 2-3 pilates classes with 2-3 free weight sessions is going to give you the variety your body craves for better overall function and reducing the commonly accepted side effects of getting older.

💃Celebrate Ginger with us!

She is no longer an apprentice teacher at Pilates Cure, but has put in a lot of work behind the scenes and has been promoted to certified teacher on our team.

Becoming a Pilates teacher is no small accomplishment. It usually takes about a year and a decent amount of travel to get through the in-person seminars and courses, observation hours, co teaching hours and test outs.

Ginger is going to be a huge asset to our Pilates family and we are happy to have her here. 🤍

Having “the” look means nothing if you can’t function well in everyday life.

News flash, getting out of bed in the morning should not require copious amounts of stretching to get ready for your day.

If you are solely focused on aesthetic goals you are missing the bigger picture.

If you are focused on power, strength and size alone you are leaving out a whole segment of training.

Pilates has gained so much in popularity due to the fact that 👉it strengthens muscles not often hit in the gym. 👉It builds strength through your end ranges of motion increasing joint stability and mobility. 👉And most of all, Pilates has gained so much in popularity over the last several years because people feel the difference in their bodies.

There’s something magical about not waking up feeling like the tin man in the morning.
