Arts Fort Worth
Together, we make art happen! Arts Fort Worth is supported in part by the City of Fort Worth and the Texas Commission on the Arts.
Founded in 1963 as the Arts Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County, Arts Fort Worth is a nonprofit organization with the mission to promote, nurture, and support the arts in Fort Worth. Arts Fort Worth administers a competitive grants program, manages the Fort Worth Public Art program, and operates what was formerly known as the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, a dynamic arts complex with theat
Arts Fort Worth announces that, after 22 years of incubating arts initiatives and empowering artists and performers, we will wind down our management of the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. Repairing, maintaining and managing this important 77,000 square foot public facility has presented a significant challenge, and the cost of continuing its operations has become unsustainable.
With this change, we will continue incentivizing arts and culture programs through grants, engaging neighborhoods in producing one-of-a-kind works of art through the Fort Worth Public Art program, and celebrating our arts community through the Heart of Gold awards and introduce our first-ever local arts summit in March 2025. Arts Fort Worth will passionately and purposefully continue build an ecosystem that is even more accessible, sustainable, and vibrant through advocacy, strengthening community partnerships, and resource development that meets the very real needs of the community.
Through this transition, we reflect with immense gratitude on the memories made and accomplishments achieved at the Arts Center. A heartfelt “thank you” to the people who visited the Arts Center, the artists and performers who shaped its legacy, the City of Fort Worth for granting us stewardship of this facility, the donors who supported bold new ideas, and the Arts Fort Worth staff who made each experience possible.
If you would like to support Arts Fort Worth or if you have questions about the transition, including upcoming exhibitions, programs, and productions, please visit our website at artsfortworth.org/arts-center

"Installed in June, the East Rosedale Monument Project covers the history of transit buses in the civil rights movement from the 1950s through the 1970s. It connects the struggle for equal rights and justice from a national narrative to a local one. “The monument belongs to the residents of the Southside,” Christopher Blay, the artist for the East Rosedale Monument Project, says. “I want it to reflect a moment of pride and a place where you can connect its history in a space that is part of the Southside Community.”

“When we invest in the arts, we’re not investing in a frill or an extra … we’re investing in an industry,” said Randy Cohen, vice president of research at Americans for the Arts. “It’s drawing people to the community. Putting heads in beds, cheeks in seats, derrieres in cafe chairs, right? So a vibrant arts community is good for local businesses.”

Don't miss Christian Cruz's 'Pinata Dance (8)' Saturday, June 15 at 3 p.m. at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center. This fifteen-minute performance occurs within an installation that includes contemporary dance and storytelling elements, and it reclaims the piñata as a—lest we forget—Mexican custom. It is a performance that unpacks trauma in light of celebration and humor. Didactic and powerful, informative and thoughtful, kinda funny, intense and interactive, the only way to remind you the piñata is Mexican is by showing you how it dances.
Christian Cruz is a multimedia artist whose work spans sculpture, performance, installation, video, and photography. Through her work, Pink Collar // Children's Linen, Cruz symbolically depicts the tedious labor of care-oriented workers. In the durational performance, Cruz faces a corner wall while delicately balancing six laundry baskets stacked on her head. As the performance progresses, her sense of confinement and stoic composure takes a toll on Cruz, causing her to drop the stacked baskets and try again. This poignant piece underscores the immeasurable demands of pink-collar workers, their vulnerability to public scrutiny, and their noble perseverance at a futile task.
