Urgent PSA! Parents and community take notice! (These brightly colored pills appears to be a new method used by drug cartels to sell highly addictive and potentially deadly fentanyl made to look like candy to children and young people.)

Rainbow fentanyl can be found in many forms, including pills, powder, and blocks that can resemble sidewalk chalk or candy,” said Dr. Aragón. “Any pill, regardless of its color, shape, or size, that does not come from a health care provider or pharmacist can contain fentanyl and can be deadly,” he said.

In its letter, CDPH points to a recent warning from the United States Drug Enforcement Agency that notes the highly addictive and potentially deadly “rainbow fentanyl” has been found in at least 18 states.

Anyone who encounters fentanyl in any form should not handle it and should call 911 immediately.

Recognizing the signs of opioid overdose can save a life. Here are some things to look for:
Small, constricted “pinpoint pupils”
Falling asleep or losing consciousness
Slow, weak, or no breathing
Choking or gurgling sounds
Limp body
Cold and/or clammy skin
Discolored skin (especially in lips and nails)

It may be hard to tell if a person is high or experiencing an overdose. If you aren’t sure, treat it like an overdose. Here are the steps that could save a life:
Call 911 immediately
Administer naloxone, if available
Try to keep the person awake and breathing
Lay the person on their side to prevent choking
Stay with the person until emergency help arrives

ONE DOSE CAN TAKE A LIFE
Even one small dose of street fentanyl – the equivalent to 5-7 grains of salt – is enough to kill. Illegally made street fentanyl that resemble candy like Gummy Bears or Skittles have been confiscated. Clovis Unified is partnering with local officials to raise the awareness of the dangers of fentanyl at a live Town Hall at Clovis North High Sept. 15.

Clovis West Administration and CHP felt it was worth while going into a weekend of graduation and prom celebrations. Thank you CHP for choosing Clovis West to be the pilot for the state and nation.

This school year, Clovis Unified is conducting a Dress Code Review and a Bell Schedule Review, and we invite you to get involved. Every school will be holding meetings for parents, staff and students to learn more and offer comments. Feedback will be processed in the fall, and recommendations will be made for any updates or changes later this year. Families and staff will again have the opportunity for input before final recommendations are made to the CUSD Governing Board. The Board is anticipated to take action in January 2022 to adopt any changes.
WHY NOW?
Dress Code -- In May, students with the district's InterSchool Council asked for a review of the CUSD Dress Code, especially in terms of leggings and enforcement, and the Governing Board and administration made plans to conduct a thorough review to be held this school year.
Bell Schedule -- State Legislators passed a law regarding later start times for schools that will take effect in the fall of 2022. Clovis Unified will need to make changes to the start and end times at nearly all school sites to meet the operational supports and requirements to comply with this law
