So proud of our 6th grade choirs!! Friendswood ISD Friendswood Junior High Choir Department

On Friday, May 3rd the Friendswood Junior High Sixth Grade chorus participated in the TMF Choral Festival held at Davis High School in Aldine. Under the direction of Laura Rachita, Christi Adams and Student Teacher Travis Falknor, the students executed a nearly perfect performance. Incredible comments from the judges included: “Tone was on point.” “Amazing diction.” and “Excellent energy and use of breath”.

The Choir earned a superior rating, which is the highest score they could have possibly received. In addition, the Choir earned second place overall, which included Choirs from all levels at the two day festival, from sixth grade through High school.

We are extremely proud of these students and for their dedication and commitment to continuing the legacy of excellence in Choral music in Friendswood ISD.

Last night our 7th & 8th Graders rocked the house last night at the final Concert of the Year! We are so proud of all the hard work these students have done this past year.

They weren’t “Blinded by the Light” but they did enjoy a “Total Eclipse”. They were looking for “The Dark of the Sun” so we enjoyed “The Sound of Silence” briefly!

The song may have ended but the music endures!

The FJH Varsity Mixed Choir cinched the final Sweepstakes at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluation earning top marks from all the judges!

This is the second year in a row that all 4 of the FJH choirs have earned Sweepstakes Award for their performances and evaluations. That’s means that next year’s goal is a Three-peat!!

10 minutes until our Varsity Mixed Choir perform their UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluations. They are ready!

They did it! All 3 of our Choirs - Mustang Select, Chamber and Concert - earned top marks at today’s UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluations! Each group earned a “Sweepstakes” meaning that each of the 6 judges gave them top marks for their performance. These kids worked hard and today it paid off! Congratulations! Thank you to all of the chaperones who stepped up to help us shuttle all these kids back and forth to the evaluations today. You help make these events possible for our students!

On Thursday, Feb. 22, our 6th Grade Choirs hosted the 6th Grade Pop Show and the talent and excitement these students had for music was incredible!

The group number was “Happy” and this group certainly lives up to it!

Yesterday the Friendswood Junior High Choir Department sponsored the 5th annual Friendswood Voices camp at Friendswood Junior High, a choir camp for Friendswood ISD students grades 4-6. It was a sensational day, filled with incredible singing by outstanding students.

Friendswood you came through for our kids once again!!! We cannot begin to express the gratitude felt by our directors, Booster Officers, Student Officers and parents as you battled early morning rain and busy Saturday schedules to help us collect more than 730 bags of donations! We are humbled by your outpouring of support. This year’s truck was nearly twice the size of last year’s truck and you helped us exceed last year’s donations! We are singing a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you!
